Transyberia Tires
What is different (i.e. springs, etc) that allows a transyberia to fit 265/65/18 tires. That is a 31.7" tire while the "normal" tire diameter on a Cayenne is 29".
It seems getting an extra 2.5 inches in there would be a PITA. Would the bigger tires fit at normal or terrian heights? Or maybe just fine on the street at any setting.
For those that ask "why"? Well, with 40 series tires one must be very careful not to scratch the wheels up. (ps. the trail up to this spot was not at all difficult, but rocks were bigger than side walls so careful tire placement was required not to scratch up wheels).

Since nobody else seemed to actually try this on a Cayenne I figured I would dive in now that my winter tires needed replaced!
They are tight when turning, but clear at the normal height setting. Just graze the fender liner on the turbo at the low setting(turning, clear fine straight)
The contact on the low setting is literally just a super light dusting type contact. It would also be very early to just trim out the fender liner for an even bigger tire.

looks amazing, really wanted this setup on my Cayenne... but unfortunately we don't get any snow... or any rough terrain around here besides a little sand and some marsh that it would be useless in.

above is my thread from a while back asking questions about the tire size and some great pics.
i wish i lived up north... cayenne+meaty tires... would be perfect combo.. when i was in the sand the vehicle just begged for more... when i was 2ft deep in water it still begged for more!

@ cole,
have you thought about "lowering links" on your air susp to trick the vehicle into staying in "high" mode all the time? lowering links generally fool the car to thinking it's high and then it lowers.. but could do the opposite and always be in "high" mode as regular and not have to lift/etc... also you could then lower and/or raise if needed...
this is one reason i wanted the air susp on the cayenne, but again never got because of lack of offroad adventures here....

If you search tires on tire rack by tire size and then click see all sizes and then select 20" then you can toggle through different variations. Once you have a results list click on "specs" and it will tell you the diameter, weight, speed rating, etc
275/55/20 = 31.9"
265/50/20=31"
285/50/20 = 31.3"

Cole - if you had a teenage son who was picking-up his date in your Cayenne, he would be pointed back the way he came by his date's father......
Looks absolutely awesome - and true to purpose of an SUV equipped with a low-range transfer case.
I run 275/45-20 Cooper Zeons on my S\C Sport, which are about 29.6". Nitto also makes a 265/50-20 in their Terra Grappler. I would be running General AT's on my Sport if they offered them in the US. If I were to do it again, I would put 265/60-18 ATRs or Yoko A/T-S's on my prior GTS. The 255/55-18 ATRs I did have looked ridculously small on the GTS.

I've thought about tricking the suspension to stay higher for winter with adjustable drop links. It would be pretty easy to make a set with a summer and winter setting.
Here are some pictures I collected when researching tires. Forget the tire size here but these are 20s. Some one recently posted in the Offroad thread with an aggressive looking set of 20s too!
(Obviously not a Cayenne, but the Touring Egg guys seem to play more with tires than we do)
Check out the ground clearance
Transsyberia with the same tires I have on now!

I went with this setup as I also have a Turbo S and didn't find any ATs in 19". The tires are General Grabber AT 275/40 R20 as I drive fast on freeways and they have a 210kph rating whereas 275/45 R20 have only 180kph.
They are GREAT in mud and very good in snow as well, I did not have to change to my 19" winter setup Pirellis and we do get a lot of snow.

Yeah, unfortunately, I could not find anything for a 20 inch wheel with the agressive/off-road tread pattern. It looks as if they are all sport truck/crossover tires that would be mostly useless offroad. I love the look of the mud terrain tread, but cannot find any for the 20" wheels. Swapping to 18's is not an option because of the bigger brakes on the Turbo S.
