I thought that you could get a 10% discount on orders but if the demand is as high as they say, I'd understand why they go for MSRP.

Good options, I see you did not let the porsche marketing get you too much.

I'd love to get one but the 20k options i want just make it real expensive in the end. I can't convince myself to go easy on the options.

Ordered in USA, New York

As you said, the dealer said the same thing. Its high in demand. So, no drop in price below MSRP, more over he had nothing in stock. Also he mentioned he sold all his Cayenne before it arrived to his delearship. First I thought of getting X5, before test drove my friends Cayenne and loved it. He traded it for his X5.

Initially i got attracted to the low MSRP without options, but minimum $15K options had to be put it if you want a decent Cayenne

Porsche doesn't build next model year until after August factory vacation shutdown.

Thanks rijowysock for the update and good luck

WWest I asked the same question and in fact I went to order 2011 model and had no idea about the 2012. And the dealer told me they no longer take orders for 2011 model, only 2012 and the price for 2012 went up by $500. Also, I went back to the dealer after 3 weeks of placing the order to check the order status with him and he showed me the order acceptance by Prosche, build date and the model year as 2012. Will have to wait. Same happened to my friend who order 3 weeks after me, 2012 model and his build date is in july and delivery in mid Sept. Will see what happens. Thanks for the update.

Hey Porschefun - Great build!

We ordered a 2012 - it was built over a week ago, and we are picking it up at the factory in a week.
The 2012's for Cayennes started building in June, I believe because the Leipzig factory has a shut down in July as well. (although i don't know this for fact)
Had a similar experience with X5, nice truck, but I think we get more for our $ with Porsche - who ever thought I would say that??

custom order 2012 MT cayenne 6/8/11 with Premium, Bose, rails, PASM, and 19" wheels.
MSRP - $500. no v6 in stock to test drive, but did test the hybrid and compared it to a 2009 GTS in MT.
have yet to receive any word on an allocation slot, let alone an estimated build date. was told likely October.
thought about euro delivery but waiting for new M5.

i think this is worse than waiting for Christmas as a little kid.

Nice custom order Chong0.
I agree waiting is such a pain. Keep us posted on your build date and delivery time frame.
Euro delivery is fun. Couple of my friend did that. Good luck

when you submitted your order, did they give you a build date at that time or did you have to wait to get the build date? as this is my first porsche, i'm feeling a bit lost with the process. when i custom ordered my bmw wagon, i was given a website to track progress of my order.
