Sitecap - that will look great. I love the blue. The dealer I ordered through had a blue turbo with the grey interior which looked pretty sharp. I think the black w/ black moldings and exterior package will look great, especially with the carbon fiber interior. I can't wait to see pics!

On another note, I couldn't help but try to research what ship my Cayenne is bobbing across the Atlantic on and I am thinking it is the Nippon Highway. It left Emden on Oct. 7th and is due in Houston on the 23rd.

Tex - my guess is that your Cayenne is on the Guardian Leader that left Emden on 10/4 and due in San Diego on the 31st.

Now that is exciting news, I hope you are right! I'm not familiar with the port of Emden (I thought they left from Bremerhaven) but it would be great to have a Halloween arrival and an early November pick up from my dealer!

Thanks for passing it along.

Here's my build:

2012V6, Jet Black Metallic, Black Interior, Premium Plus Package, Panoramic Roof, Porsche Entry & Drive, BOSE Audio Pkg, PASM, Voice Control, Ext Pkg in Black, Roof Rails in Black, deletion of model designation

Great build! Black on black is always a great combo, especially with the black exterior package. I switched from black to the aluminum when I decided on the Turbo II wheels.

ColoradoCayenne - just heard from my dealer and you were right, my Cayenne is on the Guardian Leader due in San Diego on 10/31. Pretty exciting to be just a few weeks away!

Great news! Hopefully my Cayenne is on the ship I think it is as well. If it is, it just left Brunswick for Houston. It looks like it is scheduled to arrive in Houston on the 21st, according to their port's website. I asked my dealer for an update today and they only told me that its status is "ONVESL", so we'll see. Glad your dealer is more helpful.

Have fun tracking your vessel! The wait is almost over!

I went with a 2012 V6, Dk. Blue Met. w/Luxor Beige, Premium Pkg., Convenience Pkg., BOSE Surround Sound, Front&Rear Park Assist w/Revers Camera, 18" Cayenne S III wheels.

Mine is also "ONVESL," scheduled to arrive into the Port of Elizabeth (NJ) sometime in approx. the next 2 weeks. How were you able to find out what vessel it is on? This is my 3rd Porsche, but my first time ordering one. When I ordered Bimmers I was able to track each stage of the vehicle's status throughout the entire process from painting the body to arrival at the port.

Nice build! Although I went with JBM I really like the dark blue too. I just asked my dealer which vessel it was on. I think it is probably a few extra clicks for the them to learn that but it seems hit or miss whether they share that detail. With only 2 weeks to go it won't matter too much for you anyway.

I actually wanted the black interior as well, this was a car that was already in production (dealer ordered it this way) and I had to take it because my current Cayenne is due for some costly maintenance (brake pads/rotors, spark plugs, etc.), which I would rather avoid having to pay for. Even with an extended warranty, the repair bills start piling up simply due to normal wear and tear.

I'm just glad that it arrives before Winter. It can be dicey shipping a boat across the Atlantic in the middle of Winter. I've heard horror stories where cars were damaged because they slid around inside the cargo hold in rough seas....

...but none of the items you mention are covered by warranty and you will face the same bills on your new purchase.

I always trade my cars in before the factory warranty runs out and normal wear and tear items need to be replaced.

How can they slid around in the ship? Aren't they secured tight with chains and all?

Got a call from my dealer today. My Cayenne was actually loaded on a ship on 10/13 and should arrive in port (Houston) around the 28th. I guess I had a few Porsche Exclusive items that had to be added after production was completed so I didn't get on an earlier vessel. Either way, it should be early November according to the dealership.

Definitely. They are strapped to the decks with straps, but parked inches from the next car. I am sure damage happens, but it would have to be significantly rough seas along with failure of straps for it to happen - or a careless driver when loading or off-loading.
