Not being one to reinvent the wheel if someone else has a good design - figured I'd ask before I start thinking heavily on how to do it..
The unlighted keyhole is simply silly on a vehicle of this cost/quality.. especially when the keyhole is in a spot where most people wouldn't think to look.
So - I'm thinking a nice discrete LED shining on it somehow - tied in with the interior access lighting..
Anyone done this? I can't be the only one who pokes around in the dark looking for the keyhole can I?
Are your interior lights not bright enough to find the key hole?
My interior lights stay illuminated for a considerable amount of time even once I shut the drivers door. The lights fade out once the ignition is turned on.
Admittedly I have the Kessy setup on mine and just turn the plastic dummy unit so I haven't had to "poke around in the dark" for keyholes.
Nope. If you look - the ignition keyhole is nicely hidden under a bit of an eyebrow, and in the shadow of the steering column. Dark as night around the thing. BMW used to make keys with a little flashlight built in - be nice if the headlights on our keys lit up..
