2011 Porsche Cayenne S Oil Warning
#376
yeeeeehaaaa, got my new personal best, had to put in 2 liters (±2 quarts) after two tanks of gas (350 miles).
when I was buying oil, I took 15 liters right away as I figured I'm gonna burn it in 6,5K miles anyway. now I'm thinking, why didn't I buy 20?

There are vast differences in oil consumption depending on how well the piston rings seat during engine break-in. I've seen some where the rings never correctly seated, and the engine will continue to burn 1+ quarts every thousand miles indefinitely, and some with no perceptible consumption over 5k miles.
Cayenne reliability seems to be luck of the draw:some with no problems,no matter what
..and others with multiple issues(oil,stall...)

Ok, this is the second issue I've dealt with. I'm getting a warning that the Oil Level Min Reached. What the heck is this? I'm taking it in on Monday. The awesome new Porsche came equipped with bad wipers which were replaced by dealer at no cost to me. This SUV has around 2,000 miles and I'm feeling a bit of remorse for buying this over the BMW. I hope this does not develop into a pattern of problems.
It should be noted in your owners handbook and a good salesperson should have notified you of this.
The tolerance can vary dependent upon highway or round town driving.

2010 Cayenne GTS with 39,000 miles on her. No noticeable oil consumption i.e. the oil level does not change on the dip stick between oil changes.
I have been changing oil at 7500 miles (Mobil 1 0W-40) and based upon my oil analysis I will be bumping that up to the Porsche recommended 10,000 mile interval.
