What in the world would a re-program of the DME do to actually "change" oil consumption? I think the only thing it could do is modify the level indicator. So either it's no longer going to tell you when it's low or all along it's been telling (the owners) to overfill.

Am I missing something?

That'll be the day. I deliberately come in looking my worst - not shaved, not showered, in sweats and reeking of Bud Light

Quart # 18, dealer, here I come tomorrow - 1867 miles at 11512K.

Edit: And just to bring it all together:

Quart #1 - 660 miles
Quarts #2-4 - 300 miles
Quart #5 - 850 miles (after an out of state trip, 400+ miles out of which was non-stop highway; otherwise it's mixed city/highway driving)
Quarts #6-8 - 300 miles
Quart #9 - almost 500 miles at almost 3.9K
Quart #10 - 530 miles at 4430K
Quart #11 - 520 miles at 4950K
Quart # 12 - 996 miles at 5946K and the car is getting its first oil change as I type.
Quart # 13 - 676 miles at 6625k.
Quart # 14 - 807 miles at 7447k.
Quart # 15 - 645 miles at 8094K
Quart #16 - 603 miles at 8713K
Quart # 17 - 850 miles at 9584K

I don't think "K" means what you think it means.

That was mean.
You waited for Pops to do 17 refills, to point it out.
