Tempting. But you know me, I'm all about playing by the rules. Besides, what if I hurt it?

"Breather tubes/pipes are on their way from Germany to address the oil consumption issue. Also, Porsche will change the suggested oil from 0W-40 to 5W-50" (c)

Nice! In Corporate engineering term's' this is a big 'Mea Culpa' Porsche is finally taking responsibility and acknowledging that they have a problem. Now, if this 'theoretical fix' doesn't work, it opens the doors to further steps.

In reality just changing the oil to 5w-50 should solve the problem.

Got an warning about oil level above maximum on our 6 days old V6. It has been fine all along, and yesterday the warning popped up and stayed on. Losing oil is understandable, but where did the excess come from?

They did do another DME update last month that has been steadily keeping the P!G on at least 800 miles per 1/1.5 quarts. We shall see...

Jeeezus Pops, you're up EARLY! So ... how does a DME affect oil consumption? Seems like a 'fix' that targets the oil consumption reporting 'system' .. which would imply that your P!G might be a 'fibber'!

Same thing on my 12 v6. The dealer removed a pint or so and no more messages. Still shows full at 7500 miles.

And here's what was performed to The P!G over the weekend:

"Replaced air/oil separator and replaced engine oil & filter and oil with 5W-50"

Best of luck, although XOM's shareholders might not like the hit.

Oil is usually a consumable like brake pads or tires. Are they charging you for the oil/filter?

Sorry, but I have no experience with warranty work on a P-car.

They did charge me $10 for topping off the oil once (they did it free of charge maybe 2-3 times only because they would have to witness the "oil min reached" warning with their own eyes), while I had a case of my own oil in the trunk.

This time they didn't AND did an oil change for free. HA! AND they washed the car and then my jaw hit the floor because the car miraculously looked even dirtier than before

As a side note, I spent 4 days abusing a V6 loaner. Where & how do I begin to describe the feeling of getting back into the CTT?
