Update on the "oil has reached minimum level" indicator. Mike in CA is correct, each bar on the instrument panel readout is approximately a 1/4 quart. It took 1 and 1/2 quarts to reach the max level on the readout. What puzzles me is the oil consumption amounts reported by other members. My 2011 Cayenne S used 1 1/2 quarts over 7800 miles, which is substantially less than other members usage.

Anybody have any ideas why there is such a discrepancy?

It seems useage really varies. My 2011 S has 5400 miles and I just did it's first oil change at 1 year. From new to that change, I added less than 1/2 quart.

7500 miles and 8 months in with a 2012 CS- one bar down from maximum.

Ah, yes, golf. Isn't it that game where you drive to the course in order to then drive on/around it in order to get the ball?

I always walk the course, except in the rare places where a cart is required. People who drive carts are missing most of the point of playing (assuming there is a point ). Figure an average round you're walking at least 5 miles unless you have trouble hitting it straight, in which case it can be much more.....

That's not been my experience. YMMV.

There are vast differences in oil consumption depending on how well the piston rings seat during engine break-in. I've seen some where the rings never correctly seated, and the engine will continue to burn 1+ quarts every thousand miles indefinitely, and some with no perceptible consumption over 5k miles.

Bill, how sure are you about this? By "this" I mean, going there. And. By "there" I mean comparing golf & tennis?

I know I am missing something here, why do the keys need to be reprogramed when the tail light assemblies are replaced? That seems just so disconnected. Please explain I am new here. thanks

Completely agree on the walking part. Unfortunately many "modern" layouts (at least here in NC) require lengthy (and I mean really lengthy) treks between green and the next tee. In some cases, a sherpa and rappelling gear are required. It has definitely affected my enjoyment of the game; that and 5 hour rounds. I enjoy the exercise, but not in August when the 9th hole leaves you a 1/4 mile from the clubhouse and the tenth hole.

That is unfortunate, I agree. Most of the courses I play don't have that issue, and I tend to play early in the morning, so a 4 hour round or less is the norm. 5+ hour rounds aren't much fun....
