Concern: Coolant leak from the coolant regulator housing
Information: When carrying out work on the coolant regulator housing that involves removing the intake socket, labled "A" in image, the previously used assembly grease 000.043.204.68 must no longer be used when installing the replacement intake socket. The reason for this change is that if too much assembly grease is used on the sealing rings during installation, the sealing rings may become deformed when the intake socket is installed and therefore may not seal properly. If a complaint of coolant leak from this intake socket is received, replace the intake socket with948.106.101.02 which is fitted with upgraded round sealing rings.

Action Required: Use assembly gel 000.043.205.93 as the assembly grease for the intake socket.
Information! The amount of gel required for fitting must be diluted with water (50:50).

Parts Info: 000.043.205.93 -> Grease (assembly gel, 100g tube)
948.106.101.02 -> Intake socket, round sealing rings

Good info, but still no recall or TSB?
Amazing how they already know the issues but won't fix the issues under warranty unless it breaks.

porsche52, nothing unusual from the PDCC. It just chimes the warning message, disables my sport button on the console and my car leans more than usual. Reboot, everything is as normal for another week or 2 or 3.

My car is a 2008 with < 12k miles on it, I assume they'll fix it or I'll just get another one

To all,

The coolant tubes on our 2004 C-TT failed two years ago in February. They were replaced at the dealer. Worst part was cramming 4 of us with the tow driver in his truck for about 20 minutes to get my car then to the dealer - all of this with 8 inches of snow on the ground on a Friday at rush hour. Fun!! I look back and laugh now - certainly one of those more interesting moments. At the time the Cayenne had 132,199 miles on the ticker and was about 5 years old.

T2 - continues to knock on wood

Thanks again, porsche52.

Dropped my car off yesterday early AM. They were able to easily diagnose and fix the coolant leak - exactly as porsche52 mentioned. The PDCC issue is a little more difficult for them. They called last night and told me they sent diagnostic information to Porsche for help with the issue. Not sure if that's good or bad

I did get a 2010 Cayman with PDK as a loaner.

I'm digging the transmission.

Just dropped off my 09 Turbo S (12k miles) for the second attempt at fixing the coolant leak. The first attempt Work Order from Dec 17th indicates:

948-106-101-03 Intake Socket
000-043-301-05 Antifreeze
948-106-533-00 Sealing, W (truncated I think)

Any idea what the last item is? Doesn't match the parts listed above.

I should get it back later today. I'll post results.

TIA

Please post back up if they fix the problem this time, TTDAH. I have not heard from my dealer today, I assume they're just waiting to hear back from Porsche.

Dealer called with an update. Porsche told them to replace a solenoid in the rear of the car. I'll get the PN when I pick up the car. Probably at least another 2 days before I see my GTS again.

So the dealer called at 2pm. He said they re-did the repair and the truck was ready to go. They apparently pinched the o-ring on installation of the new intake socket first time round. So they replaced the whole piece again along with new antifreeze. They said the water pump and plastic line were fine.

I put about 20 miles on it and brought it home. I had a close look (and smell) under the hood in the garage. No indication of more leaks at this time. The exact same parts were used this time as was used last. (As indicated in my first post)

I hope it holds up. Porsche52's comments give me comfort. Pig Whisperer / Cayenne Grief Counsellor....too funny.

Unrelated: I also asked them about what I percieved to be excessive power steering pump whine. They said it was normal and another one in the shop was similar, so I guess I'm satisfied.

I will keep you posted if anything piles up.

I have an 08 GTS. I've had raw fuel smell - dealer replaced heat exchanger, fuel pump and damper and they said it should be fine.

Brought it home, noticed a smell. It was a bit different, had a buddy smell it and he said that is coolant.

Anyway, brought it back and they said coolant was "evident at bell housing drain". They removed intake manifold to inspect ... "significant coolant residue built up in engine valley - no sign of fresh leak. Cleaned coolant residue, blow dried valley - no sign of leak under pressure. Suspect smell from built up residue of previous leak". Not sure what previous leak, maybe part of repair dealing with heat exchanger.

I'm new to this board, but I have been impressed with responses to other questions, so thanks in advance if you can shed light on this.

1. How long should it take for the residual coolant to burn off and be gone?
2. If they test for leaks under pressure, should all be good as far as coolant leaks?
3. Do these things that I am experiencing sound like a connection to coolant tube issue I have read about?

Default Cayenne 2008 GTS

Hey guys, I have been reading you 08 cayenne posts, very informative! I am thinking about purchasing a 08 GTS but after hearing about all of the issues I am very hesitant. I really don't want to pay in the $50K range for a car that will have constant problem and is always in the shop. Any advice?
