Default What % of CS's Require Coolant Tube R&R?

What is the percentage of CS's that require the coolant tubes to be replaced?

I have 82,000 miles and my dealer is telling me to replace them even though they are not leaking. Is the problem inevitable?

All of them, it's just a matter of time.

I went in with a Low Coolant level yesterday and they advised to replace before base warranty runs out tomorrow...... I've got CPO for two more years but wanted to get it done under base warranty

I was told, as Lewis notes, it's not a question of "if" but "when".

Oh yeah, I also found out the Cayenne's alternator is watercooled..... ????? WTF ?????

What, you have a problem with water AND electricity in close proximity?
What is the worst that can happen?
Hey, at least in the case of the Cayenne Hybrid, there will be available water for the 'uncontained thermal event'....(those in the "business", for legal reasons, NEVER use the term 'Fire', since it REALLY sets off the attorneys)

Not too concerned about the proximity. Just wondering why Porsche would add complexity to a relatively simple device.

just replaced the coolant tubes @ 59.9k miles...cost over $2k, $1k later adjusted as good will, I would replace them especially if cost is covered under warranty.

I have a CPO too, is there some reason why you wanted it done under the std. mfgr. warranty instead of the CPO? Mine's the older CPO program, not the newer more restrictive CPO.

What gives? I've learned a lot reading this forum but "everyone get coolant tubes" is a new one. BTW,
52K miles, check all fluids weekly, never had low coolant.

I was told by P dealer that the original tubing was made of composite and all eventually fail, the updated version is Aluminum...I always wondered can this failure create an emergency situation while car is in use leading to engine damage?

Just had mine done at 65K. Covered under CPO warranty. As far as permanent damage, I don't think that would occur unless you were running the thing really hot for a period of time. The coolant is there for a reason, hence leakage not good.

I wish this company would simply invent a rear engine, air cooled version of this thing then all of our problems would be solved!
