Default Bike Rack for back of Cayenne??

Hi All,
My wife would like to get a bike rack that she could put on the back of our Cayenne Ti. She does not want a roof rack and doesn't like putting the bikes in the back.
Anybody have any ideas?

We didn't want a roof mount either so I just bought the Thule Revolver, its a hitch mount that swings away.

I haven't used the Thule hitch rack on the Cayenne, but I've used it on other SUVs, and I agree - it works very well.

We've used this one with four bikes on it. We have the road runner model. Good Luck. T2

We have used both and while I cannot argue over the convenience factor of the hitch mounted rack, the bikes take beating back there. So, if your just carting around the kiddies bikes, then not a huge issue. If your carting around your Conlago, you might not be so happy, especially if you have another bike on the rack at the same time. That's just my experience.

I have the Yakima hitch mount and it is very convenient. I keep the damage to a minimum by either separating the bikes or when i am carrying a full load, use velcro straps to secure the bikes to one another.

Default Yakima

I have the ealier version of this one that holds 5 bikes: http://www.yakima.com/racks/bike-rac...bledown-5.aspx

Then to hold a combination of 4 skis or snowboards, you simply attach this to the bike rack: http://www.yakima.com/racks/ski-rack.../hitchski.aspx

Very versatile and rugged!

I would suggest looking at these:

http://www.backrack.net/

Built like a tank, makes Yakima and Thule look like POS.

I have used Thule in the past, the bike swinging a lot more than I like. Also adapter is needed for bike without top tube. I am currently using Saris CycleOn Pro and it is easy to mount/dismount the bike. Also, it has a device to stop the rack from moving around. The down side of this rack is, it is heavy (for me anyway).

Conlogo>>>>> I do not see that name often. I have a Master Light. Have always been a big fan of the craftsman frame. I have an old (1970s) Coppi which has great lug work

I don't recall saying the Cayenne was a POS, I've never owned one, so how would I know?

I simply said that the design and construction of the BackRack is, IMHO, far superior to competing products/designs from Yakima and/or Thule
I bought one a couple of years back and it has served us well.....mounted on the rear hitch of the Ford Excursion.

LTc or whatever (Larry or whatever) you are comparing your unit (BackRack) (which looks great by the way) with something that costs 25-33% of the price. Not valid in my mind.
You also tend to compare the Cayenne to 911 and Excursions; it is neither but for someone that needs a daily driver that can pull something it is both. I am sorry you bought such an early model and have been feeling bad about it for a few years, I don't seem to be having any of the problems you have identified. Maybe next time you wait for a manufacturer to get most of the bugs out before you buy...
