This coil saga is amazing... and thanks to all previous posters for the info. Here's my little addition to the story ... just bought '06 CTTS with 32km. Had it shipped from CO to NY straight to Gus for some addtional toys - stealth jammer, radar, blue tooth, ipod, clear bra and detailing - it's like christmas in January. start her up for the first time and cel comes on along with rough idle and rougher drive on the way home! Bring her in to dealer & you know the rest of the story. Good news is under warranty & a very quick fix. Hoping tomorrow will be the day I get to have some fun with this beast!!

Visited HBL in VA for basic service...oil change and check this and that.

They said there were misfire codes so the coils must be replaced.

500+dollars excluding labor

The S runs just fine so I declined. $530 for basic service and tire rotation was enough pain for one day.

Here is a quote from Sunset...$47.63 each pn 948-602-104-07.

If you want to go cheap the old pn is still available.

Through a diligent search of the forums, it appears my 'surging' / 'slipping clutch feel' problem is the coils. In any case before I start pulling them out to figure out what is likely to be bad coils, I am just going to buy them for my 2006 CTTS. Jeff just quoted me from Sunset, so I thought I would update you on the pricing - For the turbo the coils are the 07's now at 33.44 each. Plugs 12.14 each, all in stock. Plus 8-12 dollars shipping

Just did my '06 CTTS. The plugs have a unique gap of .80 mm. I have two plug gapping tools and neither had a .80 mm check tool. I ended up using my metric thickness gauge straight blades taking THREE different blades to come up with .801 mm. It was a PITA.

Point is, you might want to hunt down a .80 mm gapping tool to save time.

Thanks a lot for that information. That will be helpful when the time comes that I install these.

Default Is it finally happening???

Cayenne was being good lately, just took her on a 2,000mi road trip, but 2 days ago I went to go get gas and run some errands. The gas station is basically all down hill so I just coasted there without ever getting on it at all but when I went to get on the freeway, fairly steep on ramp, I accelerated some what hard (60% throttle) and experienced fairly violent shaking both in the steering wheel and back and forth. I drove back to my house very conservatively and had my buddy hop in to get his opinion. He noticed the shaking too and we also could not get full boost but just over 0.4bars.

Other things I have been noticing lately slightly higher water temps over last 3-4 weeks (creeps to 190-200) air temps in the high 50's to low 70s. Also seems like it could be idling a little rougher intermittently at stop lights and what not.

Car is an 05 with 38K on it so I'm neki

Front right tire just hit warning belt too (after a recent alignment from Porsche) but car still drives straight and shake seems to come from engine speed than tire speed

06 S -- 8 Coils just replaced at 39K

They were last replace in Nov 08 at 24k - also all 8

The new coils are 104-07 ....... They replace coils 104-05

I do not have the paperwork in front of me but I had some replaced prior to the Nov 08 service -- I'm not sure if it was all of them.

Can't explain it? Other than I get the impression that they are able to replace them all when one goes so they do. This service says "(1-7 Cyl)" so I am not sure if that was two or seven that were bad?

I am trying to locate a DIY for this, can anyone help? My car started stumbling and rough idle as it did when I first bought it last year. Then it was due to cracked coil. The dealership found water (from when the dealership had it detailed) in the are-- flooded. They replaced all spark plugs but just one coil. So on my way back from lunch the CEL light came on and now it is really running rough. I figure it is the coils again and will rund the Durametric tonight. I anticipate the coils again and was going to do it my self if I can. My only hold back is instruction.

So if anyone can direct it would be greatly appreciated!

My CS's engine light went on last week, took her in and no faults found. Some leaky gaskets replaced and an oil/filter change was done. Last eve. went to start her up and idle really off (wanting to stop?). Chk. engine light comes on and stays on after turning off and restarting her. Off to the dealer to replace the coils now (needed loaner for the wifey (I had to drive her Audi Allroad to work this week)! :S
