Default Turbo Cool off...

Noticed on the 996 TT Forum that everyone is strongly recoomending a 1 - 2 minute cool off at idle before turning the car off.....anyone with a CTT or CTTS does the same ?

...guess I should read the owner's manual oncein a while....

The manual will suggest that you don't turn the car off immediately after hard driving.

Mine seems to do all sorts of stuff after it has been going for a while and I turn it off. Sounds like an after run fan and I wonder if there is a after run pump that circulates the oil/coolant as well throught the turbo?

Aren't the turbos different in the CTT in that they are cooled via oil AND coolant?

Actually guys, there is a Turbo timer idle you can purchase. When you take out the key, the engine will still be on, for 1-5 minutes, (you can adjust this) but if someone was to get in the car, and try to put it in gear, the car will turn off...

My Brother had a competition Supra, he had this function that keep the car running for an extended period of time for the turbos... I will find out the name of it and post once i get it...

Please do, as the prevailing opinions has been that turbo timers and Porsche immobilizers do not co-exist peacefully.

I thought it did it automatically on the Cayenne TT.

In the 993 world we let our cars run for a couple minutes after hard driving but some also concluded that after a spirited run or laps -a cool down lap- or a nice 3 minute drive at slow speeds-like on your way home from the canyon run would good enough to cool down the turbos.

it is a module by Jreddy... This might be a Japanese brand, but fits all cars... It's pretty neat.. Once you "turn" the car off, it stays on until the adjusted amount of time you programmed...

The 951 (944 Turbo) has an additional circuit that operates the turbo water pump after shutdown until the temps have dropped. I would assume that a 20 year newer design would still incorporate this feature.

Wouldn't hurt you to run it another minute would it?
