Default Rear Camera std equpiment on CTT '06?

I just poked through the prelim order guides for '06 CTT on Renntech.org (posted by Rennlist user Loren) and saw that the Turbo will have the rear camera as std equipment,...interesting. I'd be happier if the X50 package was made std equipment!!!!!

Rear camera can also be retro-fitted

Default Link to Renntech '06 order guides

Here is the link:
Renntech Porsche Cayenne '06 Prelim Order Guides
If this link doesn't work, go to www.renntech.org and click on the link for Porsche '06 Order Guides - again, I believe these are prelim guides but they certainly look official!

Jamy, where did you here about the rear camera retrofit? Do you know if it is available for '04 models?

The rear camera would be handy for connecting a trailer.

Yes, assuming the Cayenne's tow control unit is ever fixed properly.

My local audio shop that installed my sound system has installed the rear camera retrofit on many 03/04 Cayennes.

Does anyone know if the MP3 player involved here is amenable to taking data from iPods? Or doesn't it 'work like that?'

I'm hoping that the PCM will simply have new software loaded which supports MP3 decoding. MP3 files would be decoded from either the internal CD player or the CDC changer. If that is the case, there is hope for current owners. If MP3 decoding is accomplished through hardware, then I suspect we are SOL.

I don't think, but this is just a guess, that MP3 support means support for connecting an external player like an iPOD.

Its most likely a mod to the CD playing capabilities of the player to decompress mp3's and to display extended playlists. No external interface for iPod.

mudman,

you are correct. I just spoke to my dealer and he confirmed it's the CD playing capabilities. No mp3 device connections.
In fact, he told me PNA sent a memo out to dealers clarifying.
