Annoying Rattle
Hello All-
Does anyone else notice a higher than expected level of interior rattles? I have noticed noise coming from the cupholder area and somewhere in the rear trunk area.
I was recently in a Yukon Denali XL (yeah, a land-boat) and was surprised at how much quieter it was in the interior. Can you believe that????

24K and no rattles in mine. I guess you have already checked the usual suspects ?
1 - Rear glass adjustment (common problem)
2- change in the cupholder (just kidding)

Mudman-
Thanks for the reply. I didn't know the rear glass adjustment could be involved, but that could be a candidate. I wish you were right about the cupholder. I guess I should just take it out cause' as the Germans say "Vye vould you drink in a Porsche? Pull over and get a drink!"
Thanks!

I've only had one rattle concern worth mentioning. It was a high pitched (borderline painful at times) rattle in the c-pillar area. The dealer lubed things up and added some padding and it seems to have gone away.

Rattles? Cup Holder (both the plastic holder and the little door covering it), Dash (up next to window), glove compartment, center console armrest, rear seat base and back (only on the 60 side), and doors (both passenger).
Most annoying rattles are the windows when they're open and I shut the door, they feel like they're going to fall out.
I attribute the tolerances to the fact that my CS was built on a Friday (3/7/03)

Oh, and lets not forget the sunroof.. that thing rattles open or closed. Especially the sliding cover.
I did have rattles in the driver side rear door, but the dealer removed the door panel and found a connector in there that wasn't padded (probably that foam tape around the plastic). I'm thinking my passenger door rattles are probably the same issue.
As for the dash, the fabric tape strip between the soft dash and the plastic vent/speakers near the window rides up (its currently sticking up about 1/2"), and causes creaking noises (looks nice too, black fabric tape against a beige dashboard). The dealer has already "fixed" it twice.
The glovebox creaks and rattles only when the car is moving ;-). On occasion the door will shut just "right" with no noise or rattles until I have to open it again. The pushbutton for the glove box was replaced when I first got it as it came from the factory broken (button looked like it was always pushed in). It has creaked and rattled ever since and looks like it isn't always closed (large gap between box and trim strip above it).

I would not accept that at all. I have had the tape pop up once, they fixed and it never happened again.
You should really go to town on PCNA, forget the dealer, he will do the minimum unless PCNA tells him exactly what to do

I thought I had a rattle a little while back... was driving me nuts !
It seemed to be coming from the cup-holder/console area somewhere... but i just could never pin it down !
Bugger me if I found it eventually ! and I felt really stupid for not finding it before too... I was the small plastic ring on the top of my bottle of spring water that I usually have in the cup holder !! DUH !
But hey ! It's difficult to pin these rattles down... whilst you're driving... right ?
