Default Navigation System Malfunction

Anyone had the navigation system tell you that the Destination is Invalid? Happened to me today twice. I entered the City, Address, Number -- all within the parameters offered, but when I went to route guidance, it gave me the error. Both times, it had the coordinates 180 degrees by 180 degrees. I finally got it to work; good thing too because I'm taking my kid to UCLA tomorrow -- it's a long trip, and I don't know the area. I picked up a map of California just in case. BTW, I had the firmware upgraded to PCM3, and am using the proper CD. System work well in all other respects.

a couple of times the Nav has been "stuck" and the other day it was slow as hell and didn't find the address either........so I waited 20 minutes and then it seemed to reload properly.

Not sure but sometimes after a period of not being used I think the GPS location system needs to sync up before the Nav will start to work properly. This make sense to me, the integration of data from a bunch of satelites is needed for the car to know its start point.

Destination invalid however points to confusion in the system.

The rule should always be - "also carry a map"

I just went on a trip where the voice told me to go one way and the line on the Map said another...I followed the voice and then it told me to make a U-Turn. That was weird.

I've had my navi. freeze few times, as I inserted the CD it would say unreadable CD, error, and just freeze, didn't have a similar problem as yours though.

After I shut of the car the turn it back on and just go over to reset to factory spec's than it was fine.
I got the unreadable CD error many times, my CD's are comletely scratchless.

To get it to know your home address, go into the system and log the current location and give it a name. I did that and it works great.

If you want the specific commands you will have to wait until I get my manual.

When my Navi. froze the first time I was still able to reset it by pressing the SET button and selecting on the bottom of the menu FACTORY SETTINGS,
That is when only the map froze on the Navi. and wouldn't read the CD.

Another time, the whole PCM froze in way, no sound came from speakers even though the CD or the FM seemed like it was playng silently, and if I pressed MAP or NAV nothing happened.
I was freaking out a bit, I checked the fuses and relays but they where fine.

After trying everything, last thing left which I should of done first was the remote or key reset, hold the lock/unlock button on for 10 sec with key inserted and ignition on, bang... super, it worked, sound and navi. was fine.
