Default Factory Roof Transport Wind noise

Anybody have the annoying wind noise on the Roof Transport System
on the Cayenne's. I have a moonroof, I moved the rail further back and still
the same, so I took it off for now then put it on when I need it, sucks.
Anybody knows if the Thule rack fits? I saw the pics on one of the post
I'll check out the site.

I moved both rails way back when I first got the vehicle, and that cut the noise considerably. I don't even notice it at all anymore (6k miles).

One rail is only about 3-inches from the very back of the grooves, the other is just about 12-inches forward of that. This way, I get to keep the rails on in case I need them, and they look good, too. Try it, you might like it!

I am pretty sure that the wind noise only affects the roof transport system, not the roof rails?

I was going to move mine but thought that they would not lock down anywhere but in the provided slots, ie; front and rear. I think it was really poor to have the front bar located right above the sunroof. If I could move the front one back a little and the back one forward, I could line them up with the SS B and C pillars, now that would at least look right.

So, am I doing something wrong that I can't place them elsewhere on the roof?

According to the manual it is recommended to not use the roof racks on the vehicle unless you are using them to carry items. It will result in wind noise. I keep mine in my garage unless i need to use them in which I have not yet.

Brent,

There is room at the rear of the vehicle for BOTH crossbars. Placing them toward the rear removes the front bar from sitting right above the sunroof, and eliminates most of the noise.

I just installed my friend's roof transport system in his turbo, above 40mph there is a wind noise, at high speed (we tested 150mph) it was way too noisy
