Great job tackling this!
Do the teeth on the cam gears look OK? Seems like there is some uneven wear on one side of them, but maybe now with a new chain that's not stretched, they'll be fine.
Looks like your bargain cam lock tools worked fine too 👍

Car is all back in one piece but unfortunately it sounds exactly the same as before .
The timing chain is tight but that was not the cause of the knock/tick whatever u want to call it.
It's time to let this one go. I'm not spending anymore money or time on it.

Dang, sorry to hear that. Thank you at least for documenting and taking pictures of everything. Hopefully it'll be a long time before I have to dig into mine that far.

@Cayenne_turbo did you remove the oil pan as the manual indicates to do when the timing chain cover is removed? If not, how did you seal it to the oil pan? How is it doing now? Any leaks?
