Default Which is more desirable??

2004 Boxster "S" 58000 miles one owner all records.

or

2004 Boxster 10000 miles aone owner all records.

Both cars have about the same options...

I'm torn on this one..Price is about the same...

dude, i got 10 words for you.....
"I would wish to be in your situation right now"...hehehehe!

Does it has the same color? If color doesn't matter, I would go for the "S" coz' it has additional HP and as long as the required service is done (due to the mileage) and the PPI are all checked out and come clean

Personally I'd got with the base Boxster with 10k miles. In the real world, you'll not need the extra hp the S offers, so it comes down to owning a car with 10k miles (and probably still under warranty) or a car with 60k miles. No brainer IMO.

I agree to both of them...i just realize the big gap in the mileage for both cars are too much. I got the base model too

well with the S you get better brakes and a 6th gear plus some better interior trim but again the mileage is relatively high. I would say get the base one

I would say keep looking and find a lower mileage S, either an '04 or an '03. I have the S and can't imagine having less power and smaller brakes. It's really is a different dynamic, the S vs. the base.

Same here. Also depends on how many miles you plan on putting on the car and whether the extra performance matters to you (it does to me). Also, you can have a 10K car that is thrashed, parked outside, etc., versus one with more miles that is fanatically maintained/garaged. More than miles to consider IMHO. Keep looking if needed...

Get the lower mileage one. I would.

If/when problems develop WAY down the road you can always drop in that 996TT engine

that's an easy decision - if those were the only two cars in the world, then the decision is the 04 with 40xxx miles of WARRANTY left.

realistically, the S is vastly overpriced - it is an 04 with no warranty. The differential between an "S" and a base is only a few thousand dollars - there should be 04 S models with say 35k miles for the same money as the base with 10.

neither, keep looking there are *tons* of Boxster coming back everyday from lease returns.

Get an S (believe me you want this).
find one with under 30,000 miles.

don't supercharge or turbo charge the boxster. Its too much strain on the engine and if something goes wrong due to human error, you've got one large bill to fix the engine.

OK, I'll disagree with the husband on this one. Go for the S -- always go for the S! Then supercharge it when the warranty expires.

BTW, my real world can always use the extra horsepower...

It's all what you will enjoy. Yes, it's true that there is simply no way you can use even 75% of what the Boxster offers on the street, let alone what an S offers. You probably have to go back to the 356 era to get a car you can push on the streets to closer to what it offers, but even then you probably shouldn't be. So, the point is, for some people, just knowing they have the extra hp or brakes, or gear, is what they need for their satisfaction or ego.

Personally, after YEARS of waiting for the prototype Boxster that I fell in love with to become a production car, I was very disappointed with the feel of the drive. It was not until the S came out that I loved it. To this day, a non-S is great, no doubt, it just doesn't feel fun enough to me to make it worth it. Close, but not enough. The S was another story. It pushed it over the line for me. I love my 2000 S. It just felt tighter and sportier minute by minute driving. It was not the hp, not the brakes, not the 6 speed. Knowing that I have something isn't good enough for me. Minute by minute of every drive, my senses need to appreciate it too. The S did it, the non S did not. But, like I said, for others, just knowing they have it is enough.

You have to decide what is important to you. If your senses don't need what the S offers, and they are equally happy with the non-S, I see no reason to spend the extra money.

I would also go with the 10K car. Bruce Anderson always says buy the newest car you can afford. While the S is nice you are basically buying a new car. Another point, is that it is a nice problem to have! Best wishes - Jay
