the term "generic" in this case is being used to refer to Non-Manufacturer scan tool, not a less than brand name quality tool. I own both a snap-on and the latest Autel Ultra and I consider them to be generic tools. Aftermarket would also be a good and maybe better description. Finding out some of the quirks when Trying to DIY is a big reason a lot of people come to this Forum. We are figuring it out together and I for one look forward to finding out what the resolution is with your situation.

Good morning, and thank you for all of the helpful input, truly.
Without going into unnecessary detail, I have a suspicion the code was due to the "Generic" reader. I don't feel completely comfortable with that statement for obvious reasons, but I took the car in to my mechanic who was not able to replicate my original reading.
