the term "generic" in this case is being used to refer to Non-Manufacturer scan tool, not a less than brand name quality tool. I own both a snap-on and the latest Autel Ultra and I consider them to be generic tools. Aftermarket would also be a good and maybe better description. Finding out some of the quirks when Trying to DIY is a big reason a lot of people come to this Forum. We are figuring it out together and I for one look forward to finding out what the resolution is with your situation.

That’s good to hear. A follow on question, if I might: Is there a specific problem you are working to solve, or is this more of an “I wonder if there are any stored codes” type activity?
