Default P1035

I don't know why I'm having trouble finding this out, but can someone please enlighten me as to what OBD code P1035 is?

Thank you!

That's funny, Mr Astley is one of my patients and liked this thread.

But no, he doesn't know what P1035 is either, although he did own a Porsche many years ago.

Deleted, and with an apology to the OP. I'm sorry for the rude response.

No clue. I assume that this came from a generic OBDII code reader? Scan it again with a different tool, maybe. Big box auto parts stores will do it for you, or give you one to DIY it in the parking lot.

The problem you are having is that P1035 isn't a code listed in the 7.2 DME diagnostic manual for an '01S. In fact there are no P10nn codes.

So my guess is you are left with the question of either someone flashed the system or your reader is giving you a false reading or the OBD2 circuitry is suspect. Or you transcribed it wrong.

The above reference in this thread is to a list of 5.2 codes for '97-'99 cars which would not be appropriate for a '01S ans it uses the 7.2 DME. It has no P10nn codes either.

Quite correct, Mike. So we are back to waiting on the OP to speak up.

Oh. I didn't notice. I didn't notice because I wasn't going to scour the 12 pages doing the research for the OP.

That's why it's was called a "start".

smh

My 2 cents. I agree that it is most likely the diagnostic equipment being used. P1035 is manufacturer specific and a bunch of other manufacturers use it for their VVT systems so there is a possibility it has something to do with the VarioCam but that’s just a guess at best. Porsche diag tool seems to be in order.

Good morning, and thank you for all of the helpful input, truly.

Without going into unnecessary detail, I have a suspicion the code was due to the "Generic" reader. I don't feel completely comfortable with that statement for obvious reasons, but I took the car in to my mechanic who was not able to replicate my original reading.

Again, thanks for the helpful input.
