Default P1340 error code

Hello, new to this forum as have just bought a 1999 986 Boxster 2.5.

I’m really enjoying the car but not the error codes it’s throwing up with CEL on.

cured most of them but this one comes up when the engine is warmed up.

I am aware it may be loose chain/timing issue but wonder whether anyone has actually cured this error.

Thanks

P1340 indicates that the cam allocation value (read timing) exceeded the upper limit on Bank #1. over the +/- 6 deg @ idle

Do you have any diagnostic software?

Hi, no I don’t.

Could it perhaps just be a camshaft senor? Symptoms seem the same as one of those going bad I.e. misfires and rough idle when warm.

Well new plugs and coil packs took out the engine light

The P1340 code diagnosed as solenoid valve.

This is a 20 hour engine out job unfortunately.

I had a 1531 on my 99 996. It was a $500 part (solenoid) and 7-9 hours of work. Then the other side failed 6 months later. Engine out was not necessary on my car, FYI.
