I saw one of these in Manhattan the other day. I lifted the tone arm and let it go. It dropped like it had a brick attached to it. No dampening whatsoever. Can't imagine you would get any quality recording from it and more than likely ruin a perfectly good LP.

I have my own method.

First, I use my own turntable I normally use for playback, plugged into a super high quality A/D converter, my RME Fireface 400, which sends the data to my iMac running Pure Music/Pure Vinyl software. I record at 24/192 AIFF.

I've plugged my phono stage into my Mac and recorded a couple records to hard drive. Then I just kept listening to the vinyl. What's the use? (yes I know)

I cannot tell if the difference I hear between digital and vinyl is real or just in my head. When I sit down to listen to "Sugar" or Stevie Ray Vaughn, I just smile the whole time I am listening. It's that warm, comfortable feeling you get when you were young and all was right in your universe. I like that place.

Wow that thing is not more than a toy for a child, what is that a 78 on the table?. I still have some vinyl but no longer a player. Would like to have the vinyl that I do have cut to CD. Some New Order Peel Sessions, and stuff I knew I would never get again. I'm not getting the interest in 24/192. That rate is common in high-end players and even mature or maybe the discussion is with regard to PC recording, etc., in which case I do not use to record or otherwise playback music. PC's are noisy and software is subjective. Yes I am popo'ing that. I just don't think DCS, WADIA - other than that IPOD 170i thing I think it is, EMM, Boulder, and the like are going to stay around on a diet of download and free music. Oh god soap box... Sorry!

Analog to digital really needs some good equipment to do the transisiton. If not the CDs sound like those bootlegged CDS, crap!
