Similar with today's Honda Fit, new Beetle, Mini, Fiat 500. All about 50% larger than the original.

Government Crash test/bumper design; NVH regs; airbags, etc also push automakers into bigger chassis design across the board

Performance numbers aside, 991 drives more GT car and 997 drives more sports car. Styling is subjective. It's more what kind of experience you're looking for.

I think all Turbos looks amazing. To most people they all look the same but of course as enthusiasts we have a more well trained eye and the differences are significant.

To me the 930 and 964 were the best looking Turbos until the 991 came along. Despite being larger it's a work of art. I can't find a bad angle on the car.

Here's my 997.2 compared to my 991.

Cheers.

People ask me all the time - "what year" and they're shocked when I say 2008. "Looks brand new" is the typical refrain.

I can. The front end straight on view of the 991 is awful. Looks like the gaping maw of an injured catfish.

To my eye, the front end view of the 997 is far better.

I am completely objective as I own neither. I own a lowly 993, which is the best looking of them all

I always considered the GT-R to be very catfish-like. Much more so than the 991 TT, in my opinion.

I cannot afford a 991TT, however if I could I'd consider upgrading as the PDK is a blast. But I do still enjoy rowing gears. The 991TT is gorgeous in the right color with the right wheels. I do like the extra wide stance and the acceleration is supposed to be similar to a Tesla P100D, The 997 is starting to age, but gracefully. I still get non-porsche people asking me if it's brand new.

997tt just needs newer wheels and a 1" drop and it makes the car look 100X better.

991 is a better car, 997 is a better porsche.

the wheels do really date the 997.1, with those changed it looks miles better.
