I don't believe the 991TTS is much faster than the 997.2TTS. waaaayyyy faster or just waaaayyy nicer?

I just took delivery of a 997.1 GT3 and I absolutely love it. I still have the 997.1 Turbo (it's up for sale) so I have been able to compare and contrast a little. That Turbo torque is intoxicating, but not as potent for me as the sound this GT3 makes. Sharkwerks exhaust admittedly.
They are dramatically different cars, but for me the GT3 is the car I should have always owned. It may well be a long term keeper. (he says as he also has cars.com open on another tab)

You don't have to believe anything you don't want to... however, I've driven both. Trust me, if you go drive a 991 TTS you'll understand. Yes, waaaaay nicer, waaaaaay more refined and believe it or not.... FASTER!

Just to add some numbers to the discussion, above is test data from a recent Road and Track article.
For reference, my 997.1 6MT cab with exhaust and no tune ran 60-90 in 2.9s. With exhaust and a Cobb stage 2 OTS tune it ran 2.3s~2.5s (ambient temp dependent) 60-90 and 7.7s~8.7s (ambient temp and top up/down dependent). I now have upgraded intercoolers and will soon have a custom map. With the custom map I think the 60-90 will come down another tenth or 2 and the 60-130 should be in the low 7s. 997.2s with PDK and the same mods will be faster, and 991s with these mods will be still faster yet. I'm not making an argument for 997.1, 997.2 or 991, just providing data. To have a car that is capable of 1/4 miles in the 10s at 130+ that can also be driven daily is pretty amazing, regardless of generation.

There is probably no next for me, 12+ years till I turn in the keys. Still delighted with 911 TT.
If I did, it would be like the current TT: shop F, Aston maybe McClaren, end up with a reliable road tripper again, that can do DD work just fine.

I've never measured 60-90, only 60-100mph ,100-200kph and 60-130mph.
My UMW tuned 997.1 6MT with gt2rs coolers, exhaust, and do88 pipes did a 3.2 60-100 & a 6.6 100-200, both vboxed. Also did a 7.4 60-130, although I didn't have the SD card in the vbox for that run..
The PDK really makes a difference once you get to anything with a greater start/end delta of 60mph..

After reading everything here, I have to laugh a little. We're talking about the difference between a 0-60 mph in 2.5 sec for the 991.2 Turbo S vs. the 0-60 mph 2.8 sec for a 997.2 Turbo S, as if that extra bit of speed really matters that much, at that level.
It doesn't to me, at all, ever. I don't track my car or race against others. Even if my car really only did 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds for instance. Who cares? I'll never be able to drive anywhere that fast with my current driving skills. I don't care to learn, either. I like to get in a car now and just move it fast. It's plenty fast enough, the 997.2 Turbo S.
Faster isn't important to me at this point since my car seems crazy fast. And the 991.2 Turbo S is ...nicer than my car? I think that's subjective. Granted, I haven't driven one yet, but I plan to find a used one to drive in the next or so to check it out just to see for myself. I can't imagine needing anything "nicer" though than what I have.
I do know that when I floor my car, it goes extremely fast and it makes me happy. After thinking about all this, I've decided, the 997 Turbo S is all I need for now and maybe forever. It does everything so well. If the 991.2 Turbo S is that much better, great, but I just don't need it. I love my car.
I will still obsess a bit on getting a newer car, but I just won't buy anything. It's like window shopping. I love window shopping, looking at fine goods in fancy malls. I even try on items sometimes, but I rarely buy anything. Looking is a good part of the fun, and a lot cheaper than always buying the things I want.

Where'd you get the 60-90 and 60-130 times in your table? from another source?

I like to look at 60-90 as opposed to 60-100 because on a 997.1 6MT, 100 is above the limiter in 3rd on a stock tune and puts you into dreaded DME over-rev territory on a tune

I love my Turbo S. Its got headers, cats and exhaust and aerokit. I aspire to have nothing more now -- it is perfection (well maybe intercoolers and a Sharkwerks tune and... )

Just as the 997 is better than the 996. The vintage Porsche 911 people always say that the model they have is just as good and better in most ways than the new one. All you need to look at is the prices of air cooled cars ( which were mostly designed in the 1960's) Are the beloved Porsche engineers building an inferior car to the previous model? Good luck selling this, as for most, common sense has little to do with owning these cars.

Ha ha - alway devolves into who's faster.
I don't have a 997 turbo "S" - but check out LongBoarder's videos - his 7 S takes down a lot of 991 turbo S.
Only loss i've seen on video was against a 1600 hp GTR w/ a parachute!!!
And again, IMO, keep 997 and add a GT car, or an older 911 (i would add a 964)
Edit: Here's the LongBoarder thread

I think an older, air-cooled 911 is in my future. In addition to the current 911, of course.

my daily is a 2008 Turbo manual.
Everytime i step inside it, I am in love with how small it is.
My replacement will be a 2014-2015TTS, altough i sometimes wonder if i should stick with the 997 series......
