Default CEL p2188

I searched online and here. No clear answers. But seemed to be pretty common.

What did anyone diagnose for a CEL p2188. My 997 TT runs great, but this is the second time it appeared in 1 month.

Yea maf would be my first guess. If you have a durametric you can log it to see what it's reading.

My info is it is not MAF related but throttle position sensor related.

Any idea how to trouble shoot it?

Without a Durametric (and even then I'm not sure it has the ability to help one diagnose a problem with the electronic throttle: For instance viewing in "real time" the voltage signal from the accelerator while you or a helper moves the pedal; about all you can do is carefully check the wiring.

That the car runs great suggests to me there is no real fault, there is no real (even if intermittent) hardware failure, but a "glitch" and this could be just a connector with some surface corrosion.

Thus if you are feeling frisky, and are very very careful (watch the static electricity and always handle car wiring harnesses with kid gloves) you might try disconnecting the electrical connector then reconnecting it. This action removes surface corrosion and can in some cases effects a fix. (It did so for me with a once in awhile camshaft position sensor error with another car.)

If you are on good terms with your local Porsche dealership service department and have access to a senior tech you might ask a senior tech if he has any suggestion.

One question would be confirmation of the definition of the error code.

The 2nd question assuming he's encountered this before and he probably has would he be willing to offer you something you could do?

You won't leave an e-Gas/throttle expert but maybe he has something of value he can share with you.

I drive this TT 80 miles once or twice a week to work. Never had any issue. This is sometimes what I hate, a CEL with no obvious problem. Sometimes, its more costly to repair than a problem that is more obvious.
