2007 997 TT
Hello all, it's been a long time but heading back to the Rennlist stable.
Looking at a 2007 TT with 8000 miles and from everything so far looks to have no issues. It's a TIP and I am scheduling for a full PPI and a good review of the service docuumentation. It's a one owner and serviced at the Porsche dealer. Went through as much of the forum as I could for knowlege and just wanted to know what I should look out for. Notice the recommended service mtce for a 2009 TT has a bunch of 6 year required stuff (regardless of mileage?):
Replace Sparkplugs
Replace engine drive belt
Replace fuel filter
Not sure if there was more on a 2007.
My world was 993 so not sure on these lastest beasts although I know the 09 had better electronics (not exactly sure what) and of course PDK option.
Any advice will be much appreciated.
Thanks

Main difference with 09 from 07 was the upgraded PCM / touch screen, availability of iPod and input / bluetooth option, maybe a few other very minor things. No PDK until 2010 (and 2010 is no longer the Mezger engine).
Plug replacement is 30,000 miles / 4 years (although I don't think I changed mine at 4 years yet). See maintenance schedule attached.
I think these 07-09 TT's are as close to bullet proof as you can get and with a solid PPI you should be in good shape. I did just buy a 6-year extended warranty, "just in case", but unlike my past new cars every 3-4 years, my 09 is a long-term keeper.

Thanks jcnesq and congrats bluecrab. I looked at warranty from Interstate National Dealers Association and was quoted 25 months / 28,000 miles at $4500 tax in.
I live in Canada so not really sure who else to call but curious as to your 6 year deal for warranty and who it was with/costs.

Not sure they operate in Canada. Whatever you find, keep in mind that there is usually a huge markup in these things, and a friendly seller should have lots of room to give a BIG discount.

Rob993...welcome and sounds like you got everything covered and 8,000mi is impressively nice and low! You will love the cushiness and the luxury of the 997TT but you may miss the sound of the 993. Having said that be careful if you start a "exhust system" thread as it is an emotional topic here!
For your reference: In 2007 when I was buying my '07TT I remember the dealer offering me an extended 3 year Porsche warranty on top of the base for around $4K US...I told him to forgetaboutit!...

I got a similar deal as jcnesq on my Fidelity warranty. I think it makes a big deal on pricing when you have < 10K miles on the car. I wanted the exclusionary version which covers everything that is not specifically excluded in the terms.

I just had a door pull cable break.. That is the first thing to break since I was out of warranty. Going to cost over $500 with parts and labor.
And you are so correct about the exhaust debate! Don't even start lol!

i also just got 07 turbo tip from dealer in Mar- one owner w/19k miles, 2 yr CPO- So nice compared to my 02 996 c2-
also saw 6 yr time for plugs, fuel filter, belt- dealer said wait till mileage is up for these, not time- figured if i get an EP exhaust, i'll have them do plugs then- if not i'll do svc when miles are up & not worry-
got prices for Fidelity platinum from Sunset Porsche in Oregon- price goes up >25k miles not sure of 10k- i got quote for 6y/60k $250ded $3700. Also checked Costco warranty whose prices/coverage seems good- not sure of how they pay claims but figured costco is quality for most else-

Ok, getting close and next week have a PPI scheduled for the vehicle. Since it did not have the 6 year service if the PPI goes well I will have the spark plugs changed as well as the belt and everything else that is listed and own the car at point. PPI is about $600 and the service is supposed to be around $1400. It's being done at a non dealer but very strong P Car shop. the dealer quoted me $2500 for the service and they said it was a must to replace the rotor and pads. This vehicle has 8000 miles, really??
A DME will be done and since this is a tip do i really need to worry about over revs? Don't know if its possible with tip. If there is indeed an over rev that shows up, do I walk away?
break pad from last service 700 miles ago about two years ago (I know, why would anyone not drive the car) front had 8mm and back had 6.5mm of pad left.
Last let me know anything else I should look for as I will be there for the entire process.
Many thanks

if looking for an automatic in a turbo, the 997.2 2010+ PDK is the latest greatest just like the new 991 Turbo.
Works well on the track and is future of 991 Porsche.
However if you are not really into the track thing and looking to save a couple of bucks, then the 07-09 Turbo tiptronic is a good buy.
If you really wanna know what is what, The 2007-2009 manual turbo is a hot car right now as it is last of metzger. The 2010-2012 manual turbo is also a hot car because the motor is soild and has shown to be the future of the Porsche 991. It truely is the last of the manual turbos....
