Denis the Valvoline looks good.. I'd run it in a second.. Send me a case!! I'd run Mobil RACE 0W50 if it was in a 5W50 (the only thing that worries me is the detergent package>different subject)

From what I have seen, the 0W40 sheers to a level lower than what this engine needs. Please realize that in the 959, GT1 spec and water-cooled 962's they ran 15W50 >and even higher. The 5W40 and 5W50 are more temperature stable and sheer less.

Here's my report from my oil change I did this past weekend.

Nothing jumps out to me as abnormal..

I went with 5W40 TDT oil after my report & oil change.

At least spend 20 minutes and read all of Kevin's posts in this thread.

Always stick with the factory recommended fill outlined in your manual.

It's easy to say right now that 1000 PPM is suffice, when just 8 years ago we had 1600PPM and prior to 2000, we had 2000PPM.. These engines were designed for the higher levels.
Great Kevin,
For those of us based in Europe.. which oil would you recommend for a 997.1TT?

Do you test your used oil? You have to dig deeper and research the oil specs. What is the VI, HTHS, and metal conditioning additive package. The Euro Mobil 5W50 is the starting point to compare "other" oils too..

Here's my latest report.. I ran M1 5W40TDT most of the year..I'm sure the dealer put M1 0W40 back in as make-up oil when they had the camshaft out for repair.

Reviving this thread as im getting ready for my "winters over" oil change. Im thinking of Motul V300 this time. Was using M1 TDT 5w40. Not sure if im making a positive move and the cost is more. Any new thoughts on this topic?

Use Mobil 5W50. On sale at Napa for $5.99. Then take another $12 off with the Mobil rebate. Limit 2 cases. Done.

I was wondering if anyone could give some insite on my sample. It came back with high nickel and other metals again. I know it's probably not good but I was just wondering how bad it really is if at all. Has anyone experienced numbers like this.
Thanks
