We are in Europe Slider. Its mandatory.
However, since the issue was brought up, there are two types of plate holders for Euro plates for a 911. One is the one on the car, which is not the length of the plate, and thus the plate will end up bending on the sides (that nose is too low and hard to predict while parking, it is inevitable that the plate will touch something at some point). The other type of mounting base is as long as the europlate, that is what you must find.

The car now has the narrow plate base and it is wearing a dealer plastic surround which is wider... Thats why it looks out of place..

Up front I am going to use the old style Belgian license plates, they have about the same size as the Italian plate holder so wont look out of place.
Driving without a front plate in Europe is impossible. To compare, try driving in the US without your rear plate, see how far you get, same for us regarding front.

I like the red lights too, sold the dectane's with the Arctic. The guy saw them and got all happy so had to leave them. Doesn't matter as the red ones are perfect to me. Maybe later I'll get dectane's again.


I am not sure what is supposed to be done at the next service. All I know is that 24 months have passed since first service on 4/2010 (only stamp in book). The BC states it needs a service. I have the invoice for same service from Arctic car (second service at about same mileage) and that was over 700 euro.
For sure no plugs, that's a long time away.

Brake pads have not yet been replaced but are very good.

Original Bridgestone tires have still decent live. Think around 10.000km left.
The previous owner is 62 years old, I think he hardly used the power of the car judging from those tires.
Every body panel was measured with a paint meter and nothing has been repainted, car is 100% original. That is important to me.

As far as my italian takes me, that is a plain service.
They are killing you on the particle filter, which Skand told me can find OEM for 30 euro, not 48.99 after a 20% discount, plus 21% vat!
Oil price is fair at 125 euro plus tax, and so is oil filter. But labor for service including tire rotation is a lot... 162+vat and some other thing which I cant make at 59,15 + VAT.

I do recommend annual services regardless of Mileage...
And there is no way you can get 30k kms from one set of tires!!!! Mine are shot at 12-14k. Rears at least. Dont look at the outside of the tire, mine looked fine when I got it, but the insides where slicks! Unless you are all highway mileage. I would be very weary of them. Especially if they are 4 years old (what year is the car?).

A major service in our cars my friend is not 700e... more in the 1500-2000 range at a dealer!!!! You have to find a non dealer specialist in your area, it will save you lots. And there are quite some good ones out there. Ask Stef's opinion at Europipe.

Regarding tires, I got 2 turbo's within weeks and both have around 20.000km.
Both have the original tires. The arctic silver one has tires from week 43 of 2006.
On the Meteor I didn't check the dates yet but the balancing weights are factory.
Both cars rear tires will do at least 5000km more. Inside is indeed worse than outside but still ok. Maybe 10k is too much as you say.

The service booklet gives two options, for the invoice attached, Porsche Treviso marked the service booklet with 'major'. That is why I used that word. A small service is just an oil change I suppose.
Oh, and I did not pay the invoice, the service was done before I owned the car.

What I wanted to say was only that, compared to the Arctic one were service was done and 12months Porsche approved warranty was running, this car comes with nothing. The 'major' word got us somewhat astray.

As I am going to get the Porsche approved warranty I will be obligated to go the an official dealer. The dealer I use is reasonable anyway.

FYI Nick , original tires are dated 11th week of 08. Think I'll manage 10K more out of them. They are that good. First owner was 82 when he bought it. Sold it in 2010 to a woman doctor/surgeon of 55 years old with 4000km. Both have driven the car very light. Original brake pads have almost no wear !

Wednesday evening my wife drove me to the high speed train station and a little later I was on the TGV to Germany. Arrived in the hotel just before 1 am.
At opening the next day I was at the used car dealer. After a quick walk around I ordered my bank to wire the funds in to his account.
Took the car, with his father as a guide, to the TUV control (perfect car they said) and registration office. By the time we got back the money had landed on his account and I was good to go.
Only the tags and registration papers needed to be delivered from the registration office. They arrived by 2 pm . License plates were installed and off I went.
Since the car is in need of a service I preferred to take it easy and did not drive faster than 170km/h. Truth be told, was also tired from the stressful past days so did not feel the urge to go fast. Managed to get home with one fuel stop only.

It is a strange feeling having just bought a used car in your dream spec.
Not to mention the added goodies I would not have ordered like PCCB’s.
Coming from a steel brake turbo I found myself pushing the brakes a little too hard from time to time. They really are strong stoppers.

Happy as can be, not selling this one anytime soon.

I am sure that taking it easy driving back at 100+ miles an hour must be quite annoying for the US members of this forum... That 55 limit is such a killer.

Hick up today.
My 993 is as good as sold, the buyer was supposed to be coming from Germany tomorrow. He did not want a modified car so worked all day to bring it back to stock (lights, steering wheel,etc). Last thing to be done was change out the wheels. Misery struck, could not find the wheel lock bolt anywhere. Searched everywhere. Called the guy he could not come over tomorrow.
Luckily he was cool about it. New date is set for Friday. Tomorrow I am going to find a solution. Porsche centers have key sets to remove lock so if they are willing to borrow it I am saved. Car is not registered so would hate to drive all the way to the Porsche center.

It must be in the car... under the nose carpet? in the glove compartment? They only glitch I can imagine is the guy that installed the wheels in the first place to have kept it by mistake...
