So very true !
It was a dream having a 'collection', once I got it, after the novelty wore off it became just wasted space. Now I know it's not for me and do not have to dream about it anymore. A live lesson so to speak.

Yes we live an we learn. Thankfully for me the turbo is a collection of sorts all wrapped up into the one sports car. So the next time i roll it over, will be on another "one" as in 1. This one has been a very slow work in progress if i must say....although i can't complain as I've got most things i want done on it....save (maybe) a set of .2tt coolers. The car is such an animal tuned...yet so drivable.

wow... you answered so many questions with this exchange... I have wanted to have an "old" 911 next to my turbo, but apparently, you seem to agree that it will be yet another "tuition" that I will have to pay to realize that I dont need it... Especially since my collectible is actually the 997TT which gets drive at a rate of 5k kms a year!!

Food for thought.... thanks guys.

The great thing about 'an old' 911 is if you buy smart you'll likely make money.
I made a very decent profit on the 993, on the others not as much but still nice spending money.
If I would have bought stock I would be looking at a big empty hole by now.
No regrets whatsoever. I feel fortunate to have had a 'Porsche collection'. So if you feel like owning a 993 than I see no reason why you shouldn't.

Ooooo.... Me likee those.... Sweet! I love the polsished lip... Going to look awesome with the PCCB's..

Denis ... Are they as light as the OEM wheels? They cost you 1600 Euro?? What tires are you going to mate them with?

Thanks !

Phillip, I am going for Bridgestone RE050A N1 in stock sizes. I have those on my car now and prefer them over Michelin which I had on my 2 previous turbo's. They are, to me, noticeably quieter.

Weight should be close :

OEM 8.5x19" 23 lbs. 8 oz (10.83kg)
OEM 11x19" 28 lbs. 70 oz. (13.03kg)
(deducted 70 grams for RDK sensor, valve and cap)

BBS :
CH-R 9x19 ET53 - 24.5 lbs. (11,1Kg)
CH-R 12x19 ET45 - 28 lbs. (12,8Kg)

And correct, I got them for only €1600. Super deal !

Weight should be close, Paul gave us the exact weight of stock wheels (see your wheel thread) :

OEM 19 x 8.5 ET56 - 23.98lbs (10.9 Kg)
OEM 19 x 11 ET51 - 28.82lbs (13.1 Kg)
BBS :
CH-R 9x19 ET53 - 24.5 lbs. (11,1Kg)
CH-R 12x19 ET45 - 28 lbs. (12,8Kg)

And correct, I got them for only €1600. Super deal !
Fwiw the stock wheel weights i provided include the TPMS and centre caps.

And btw the wheels look good. Be interested to see how they look at the stock ride height.

Denis,

Wow they are very close in weight.. That's awesome.. I have the Bridgestone RE -11's on my car now. How are the RE-11's different from the Bridgestones you mentioned?

I think the Re-11's are a great tire for the money. Very good grip in the dry and wet.. And I find them quiet as well..

Can't wait to see your wheels on your car..!!!!

What model are those wheels? And how did you get them for so little money?

Thanks !

Phillip

I just checked out the RE-11. Looks good !
Unfortunately not available in Europe. The RE-050A is the OE tire from Porsche with the N0/N1 Porsche homologation. Do the RE-11 have N0 or N1 spec ?

The model name is CH-R and you too can get them for so little money.
Just go to baanvelgen.com and request a quote, they ship worldwide.
You'll pay even less because the €1600 includes 19% Dutch VAT witch you, of course, wont pay. You'll pay shipping but still will safe a bundle.

Awesome.. Thank you! The Re-11 is not a Z rated tire. But I don't hit 175 mph too often. They are great tires. I may try these Yokohama's next..

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ramic%20brakes

They have received rave reviews and they price is great. I go through tires fast. I get about 5k on my rears. and about 7500k on the fronts. My friend who drives his 650hp methanol monster TT in the local canyons (4 times a week) once went through 3 sets in one year lol!

Thank you so much for the wheel link!

Phillip

My turbo got treated to a major service today. No Spark plugs although replacement is mandated by Porsche every 4 years. To me that's money wasted on a car with 22000km.

Battery replaced as well. Died on me this morning. Jumper cables out and off I went to the Porsche dealer. Delay only 15 minutes so all good.
Took my boy with me as he is big into 'machinery' of all sorts. He had a great time. Me too.

Some pics.

Driving home all lubricated and happy :-)

Wow that's a nice shop...You could perform surgery in there! When do the wheels go on?
I'm doing my front brake pads this weekend and installing some Evoms boost recirculation valves.

My front pads lasted 57k with the PPCB's... There is still a lot of life left in the rears. That's awesome..

All the best,

Phillip
