I have it in pdf form.

Interesting wording, right from the order guide (just to stir the pot here):

Dry sump lubrication system with external oil tank

Here's the vid they might show to explain that curious terminology:

Yes but this is not good enough for the narcissists on RL.

Their cars experience oil starvation and reduced power during 20 mph turns on public streets on their way to the grocery store.

They can easily convert a wet sump to a dry sump. That's what Mercedes is doing to their 6.2L AMG engine to fit into the upcoming SLC supercar. They did it to lower the engine and thus the center of gravity.

I am proud to be a long-standing member of the Rennlist 'narcissists'. At least I am not ignorant about engine technology - this is just a semantic 'trick' - dry sump engines have a crankcase oil supply located at a distance from the engine because of something called 'physics'. That YouTube video is a marketing ploy to counter this very concern, but it's no dry sump lubrication system.

The A91 engine may be better than the ones that are derived from Hans Metzger, and they are much cheaper to manufacture. Which is good, because Porsche has been in terrible economic trouble, that's why the base of the new 911 turbo has increased by 5%.The old M96/M97 engines had problems, like the infamous RMS leak, but they did not generally suffer from oil starvation at the race track.

Here is the deal, regardless of the oil tanks location, if it is a separate tank, not sharing common space with the crankcase....it is drysump. Even if said loacation is below the engine. Period! The literature says "dry sump with 9 oil pumps", which is what the current engine has. The physical location of the tank has little to do with "physics" if locating it below the engine does not change any handling characteristics of the car or in some other way interfere the packaging of the drivetrain. Separate tank, engine with scavenging oil pumps, not open to or sharing space with crankcase = dry sump.

Wet sump ---dry sump

tiptronic --- PDK

DFI --- Fuel injection

I think this is the place to learn and talk about this stuff. I personally don't care whether my next car is has a dry sump, DFI and still not sure about PDK. This is the place to learn and I'll decide if oil starvation is a big concern for my style of driving. There probably some folks on this board who have experienced oil starvation and have some real concerns. Nothing wrong with some healthy discussion.

I guess I am narcissitic
