I am ready for a new car (daily driver), currently 05 C2S (launch car). Never drove a TT. I am highly smitten by the new 997.2 GT3 and I'm sure I can get my dealer's first allocation. I think I would tend to like the little rawer virtues of a GT3. However, my dealer also has A LOT of 09 TT's on the lot, and the possibility of a really good deal on one is also tempting.
So slightly off topic, but what can you TT guys tell a non-TT guy to help in that decision.
(BTW, the GT3 is slightly more complicated because I will have to install rear seats for my kids at some effort and expense.)

My advice is "Drive it" and decide if it's what you like. Think of your C2 with a jet engine.

Better think twice about installing rear seats in a GT3. I know it can be done, but the car is certified as a2 seater and if you install rear seats and something happens...
Having said that, it sounds like you really want a GT3, if you can get the first allocation go for it I say. The GT3 is a hell of a car. But the TT can be made more GT3 like with some suspension upgrades. The power is intoxicating, throw on an exhaust and ECU and it's plain rude. That is something you will never have with the GT3. A GT3 cannot be made more like the turbo in terms of power, it's pretty maxed out.

Kids? TT and no seat hassles. Track? GT3.

Doug is right, it's a major liability issue converting it to a 4 seater. If rear seats are important, consider a new 3.8 DI 997.2 S, nearly the same hp as a gt3, the same DI engine(2010), legal backseats.
the turbo is a different animal alltogether, intoxicating hp. Once you have forced induction you'll never go back.

Thanks, guys - very helpful comments so far! Terry, it's been way too long since I've seen you - I think a North/South rumble needs to be planned soon!

LOL - Just wanted to take a couple days to be sure about the color (I was torn between a black one and the basalt one), oh and yeh, there's that other minor matter of getting another TT (as in telegraphic transfer, e.g. $$$) in a couple days.
