I've seen Hennessey's modded 08 Viper in action and did multiple 60-130mph runs back to back with that car. It is quite fast, but not faster than a modded 06Z06

i agree with you but do what ? GM has already covered the dashtop with leather and put two tone lthr on the seats . the vette interior just has way too much plastic ; i think they have done the best they can with what they have to work with . $100k or not , they wouldnt put an entirely different dash and interior setup from a regular c6 , the cost would be to high.

Um, not that your opinion really means much unless you've driven my car and a new Viper...

But have you just read some magazine write-ups and concluded this, or have you driven both cars? Or have you driven neither and just thought you'd write your opinion as some type of fact because it sounded good to you?

FWIW, I don't do 1/4's and cannot think of a reason why I should. Not to open a whole new discussion or anything but I think that type of drivng is shallow. But that's just opinion and I don't mean to offend any "dragsters' any more than say, NASCAR fans. I don't think racing in taxicabs is cool either.

I've been on the track with Vipers and I'm not as impressed yet as some. But maybe I just haven't met the right ones.

Yes, it's been discussed several times on the Vette board. Hey, when you start modding you are expressly taking responsibility

We both know what that means...

the car offers performance matching cars that cost 2, 3, or 4 times as much.

They have to keep the cost down somewhere, and since they already covered it in leather, there isn't much else to do.

Well, it offers the POWER of cars that cost 2, 3, or 4 times as much.

It offers the performance of a Corvette.

Keep in mind that JH's 08 Viper was lightly modded. Woodhouse Dodge just bolted on a set of Bellanger headers and got 50more RWHPs.

FYI, this was posted today by Mark Jorgensen of Woodhouse Dodge over on the VCA website:

"Well you have been waiting for the confirmed numbers and granted we use a Mustang dyno instead of the Dyno Jet, but we know our dyno is very accurate and calibrated to the same setup the factory uses . We base lined an new 08' yesterday at 481 RWHP = to 602 at the crank. Today with the full Belanger system and high flow cats we ran the car again and with just 31 miles on it and no "learning" miles for the computer, we gained... 50 RWHP at 6250rpm! thats 62 HP at the crank with just 38 miles on the car! Just think what they will produce when there is some break in miles run on her.

The gains were across the board with a 20ft/lbs gain starting at 2875rpm and peaking at 44 at 6200rpm! I will have Chris M. try and post some of the graphs for you tonight. If we can find a way to tune the PCM there will be even more potential since the A/F was still in the mid 10's from 4800rpm and up. We have no check engine lights either so that concern seem to be mute!

I would like to thank Mr. Schenk for his generous donation of his new "undelivered" 08' snake for our test.

JH's car was already at 560+ to the wheels when we ran. No doubt, both the Viper and the Vette are impressive. I just don't see one trouncing the other. There simply is not that much performance disparity between the two platforms save for the horrible aerodynamics of the Viper which is even worse than the mediocre aerodynamics of the Z06.

Eclou,
Dont forget that JH's Viper was a convertible. Of course its not going to have the best drag coefficient. The coupe version of the Viper is a different story.
