Default Does anyone use their 997TT as Daily Driver?

I recently purchased a Daily Driver so I could reduce the mileage on my C4S since I am selling it this summer when I get my new 997TT (build date 7.1.08). However, I really miss driving my Porsche as my DD and was wondering if anyone uses their 997TT as a DD? How much depreciation impact really happens if you drive say 12k miles/year verus say 5k miles? Seems a shame to leave these cars in the garage - the fun of having them is driving them everywhere! Curious what others do???

A Porsche is a daily driver period.

The excessive enjoyment of the daily experience far outweighs the marginal increase in depreciation and attendant worries about about additional miles, dings etc.

Drive it like you stole it (after your style of break-in) and enjoy every moment.

Consider it a journey to use up the current car so you can enjoy the Engineering advances in the next generation.

No worries "tis a permanent smile!!

I pretty much use mine as a daily driver...I keep telling myself to use the accord but cant resist.

I dont really care much about depreciation since I'm keeping this one proboly till the 998 turbo. Or if business does really well and trade it up to a GT2.

Drive mine at least 3 days a week...have driven it 7,000 miles this year plus 4 track days. The 997TT is the best everyday car on this planet...

mine is 16 months old and has 23k miles (even with 2 other cars around...).
already went through 2 sets of tires and one set of brakes. So yes, it is a great daily driver especially in tuned form...

Rennlist members T2 and Pierre have over 150K miles and 200Km on their 996TT's, driven year round. Perhaps the most reliable supercar ever developed.

The only bad thing about these cars as a DD is the lack of a spare tire. Case in point, running around yesterday between work places and I get a flat tire warning. The fix a flat thing is a POS, total hassle, I wasted the whole afternoon f'ing around with it. The braniac was that decided to abandon a spare needs his butt kicked 14 times a day. With a spare, I could change the tire and be on my way.

The great thing about a Porsche is that it's great on the track, on spirited weekend drives, and it can be driven to work everyday.

Do what you want with the car, you're the one who bought it.

I agree - kick that guy in the *** for eternity.
I carry a spare in my C4S which has the same boot dimensions as the TT - I carry it for peace of mind,...just make sure you take it out before going to the track.

I've been driving a Turbo as a DD for 18+ years, esp. the new 997. I keep my cars in good shape, so they age gracefully and retain much of their sparkle. I don't care about resale, because I use them for so long I get every penny of value in driving fun.

Enjoy yours. Who knows how long we'll be here.

I have a small jack, a compressor and a repair kit in each of my cars and I can fix a flat and get going in a few minutes. It is a temporary fix but I am never stuck with a flat.

This is great - keep the replies coming - I am getting more and more excited to get my 997TT which I will use for a DD now. I was using my C4S but when I made a post about selling it next summer, got all sorts of negative responses about the high mileage (55,000 miles on an MY04). So I bought the DD. Some folks had only 3-5,000 miles on cars my age. I hate leaving mine in the garage!

10k miles on mine since May, DD every damn day, rain/snow/sun/track. It can take it, I'm not saving it for the next guy or worried about depreciation.
Word on the spare issue, I had two flats in my old c4s. I carry a plug repair kit in the car, they work great, used em for years. But, I would love a spare.
