Default Any of you guys have squealing brakes?

When I roll to a slow stop the brakes start squealing just before the car actually stops moving. It sounds just like a city bus and is really annoying. I posted on another forum and a bunch of 997TT guys posted that they are having the same problem so I thought I would post it here as well. My prev 997S has the same exact brakes and I never had any squealing, the number of 997TT owners responding is making me think there is something to this.

There was a brake re-call on early tt's just for this problem - at 5k miles, they replaced my brakes and rotors. OTOH, my original brakes/rotors never made a sound - go figure

Brake pad dust buildup in the rotor holes. Try a high pressure spray blow out. Roll the car a quarter turn to expose the holes covered by the caliper, then spray those.

Do any of you guys have ceramics or steel rotors? Wondering which ones are squealing. And I'm not sure about using high pressure water pressure. Definitely could ruin something here. I'd rather take something and clean those plugged rotor holes out manually instead.

Jason, been doing this on the 993 ever since they squeaked at <5K miles. No squeak since, and no harm done. Just be sure they are cool first. The manual cleanout works too, just not as easy. I do the spray out every time I wash my car.

I thought you meant from a pressure washer! From a regular garden hose, that should be okay.

Sorry I was unclear. Meant garden hose or even the DIY car wash hose.

I've noticed the squealing only when the car's been out in the rain. Last night after work the whole car was damp from high humidity during the day. Until it warmed up the car was making all kinds of groaning & squeaking noises, from suspension, brakes & I don't know what else. (Steel brakes, BTW)

I always hear squealing brakes on racecars as they pull into the pits. Performance pads = performance squeal! I had some performance pads for about 5 seconds but they made a racket so I went to dealer textars and it was quiet. I wonder if the turbos are using different pads than your last car? I'll trade you for my 993 if you want....my brakes don't squeal.
