Default best wheel cleaner?

I have used the zymol stuff for awhile and it works pretty well but I was wondering if there was something else out there that was better while being safe on the wheels - I remember seeing a few things in other posts, but I searched and could not find it - TIA

P21S gel, works great but it's pricey and you go thru a lot of it, but it works.

Use it as a last resort. You'll be surprised how much you don't need it. It's not very nice stuff; can dull caliper paint and if you wax your wheels WC strips that wax off. P21S is "the best" if you need to use it.

Citrus based P21 Total Auto Wash.....basically the same as citrus based cleaners (Fantastic, etc from the supermarket).
Very safe (compared to P21 Gel/Wheel cleaner), works well.

I started using products from Autopia. They have a "Sonus" branded wheel cleaner that is very effective and without any etching. No worries about the stuff drying on the wheel

The Zymol wheel brite in the blue plastic bottle has been excellent. First I rinse the wheels and brake dust. Then I shpritz it on and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Then I use the conical brush that has a rubber tip that will reach across and inside the wheels and around the caliper. Then rinse thoroughly. After that, I spray a mist of the Zymol Wheel wax, let dry and lightly buff. Wheels look like the day I got the car after 1 year.

don't let it get so bad in the 1st place. Wash it enough and the car wash soap should be enough.

thanks for the input you guys - maybe I will stick with zymol stuff or even the soap I use to wash the car - and for the record I never said I let it get bad - I was just looking to see what experience others had with other products to see if there was something superior to what I was using

Just get the yellow PCCB's and don't worry about the brake dust. Think how much you would save on wheel cleaner...

Exactly!

I dunno how many guys have been using wheel cleaner religiously since "day one" and finally figure out that a little water and a rag or brush is all that's needed.

That stuff _is_ caustic. Repeated use is cumulative.

Lemme ask: would you use wheel cleaner on your clear coated paint? Why are wheels different?

Another option: I've been using Rejex for over 3 years now, including on the wheels. It makes them more slippery. Yes, there can be accumulation, but most of it washes away with the first rinse, and makes both the car and the wheels much easier to clean. And yes, that's why we have been selling Rejex for the past three years too.

I did want PCCBs but I was not willing to wait for a car, so I had to search the country to find the closest thing to what I wanted color and option wise and could not find what I wanted with PCCBs - maybe I will just try to ole soap and water trick - I guess I never thought much about it - I just had always used wheel cleaner on the wheels - I guess I thought it helped get brake dust off more easily or something - now if you guys can think of a way to keep my darn rotors from rusting as soon as I wash them and then the day after getting rust dust all over my wheels, you will be my true heroes

That's true the stuff allows for easier cleaning.

I maintain it mostly on my front bumper(s) for the bug jerky problem. It _does_ require proper application technique to work best.

If you use it on your wheels you should definitely stop using wheel cleaner (luckily you'll need WC less anyway). again, WC will probably strip it off and RejeX is a bit of a PITA to reapply.
