Default F430 eaten alive by 997 Turbo

yes, the deed was done.
glad to report, that i was able to crush the F430. Actually it was annihilated....

going from a roll at thirty, i would pull away and then he would catch up, slightly lead and by 200 we were side by side again.

starting from fifty, we would exchange leads. he would pull ahead by half a car lenght and when his F1 shifts I would lead. again and again still arriving at 200 together.

from standstill we both bog off and then when i had built up boost, he would be in the correct rpm range and again side by side.....

now for the best part.....

standing side by side with we torque braking, i would push the brakes and get rpm up to 2500-3000 revs i flew away so fast, that within 2 seconds i was 50 meters away.

absolutely amazing what the turbo is capable of when launched this way.

we did not try his launch control mode. the f1 clutch is on good for 4-5 of these launches.

unfortunately, we did not have a third person with us to film these pulls. in three days another carnut friend is joining us and we will have the videos to post.

i would not have thought that i would be able to crush him THAT bad.....

the 997 Turbo Tiptronic is unbeatable when launched in that manner......amazing.....

I suspected this would happen. The other reason I went for the TT (and Tip) is the 2X price difference. When you say 200 you mean km/hr, right?

This makes me seriously consider the tip as an option. There's no way I can shift as fast as the tip - seems like a blast. Can't wait to see the vid.

Launch control would have made a difference.

intouch1,

I know its OT, but your car looks like a nice color combo. Is it slate with natural brown interior? Any pics of the interior would be apprecaited.

Looking forward to a video of the race when you do it too.

I don't believe it.

Nick says that a Porsche offering superior performance to a Ferrari is UNPOSSIBLE!

I mainly just love reading this forum because I don't have a porsche, but I must compliment these two beauftul cars. Slate grey is an amazing color as well, I have seen one in my area and it is truely amazing in person.

Drag racing performance doesn't tell the story. When you go for a ride, do you find a nice stretch of road and just do fast starts? Of course not, you take a car up through the gears, you feel the g's build in the corners, feel the slip angle start to increase, detect the threshold of lock up as you brake for a tight one. You drive to experience the whole spectrum of sensations a great sports car can create. Or at least I do.

Reviews have compared the TT to a heavy metal concert and the F430 to a symphony. On Top Gear Stig compared the Turbo to a canal barge when he was reviewing the F car. The turbo is a great car, I enjoy the great sensations it creates, I'm more comfortable parking it out of view, I enjoy the build quality etc. But the F430 exists on an entirely different level.

If I had to choose one supercar to drive everyday it would be the 997TT over the F430. I own a TT and have plenty of seat time in the F430. The F430 is a beautiful car inside and out and the sounds are outrageous. I think the reference of the TT to a canal barge is a bit overstated. The TT is amazingly fast, brakes are top notch, and the build quality is second to none.
