Default 3M clear bra removed & replaced w/ VentureShield

I had heard about a new clear bra material being touted throughout the car community, VentureShield. A new type of material that has now come to the market replacing the older 3M material still used throughout the industry. I admit that I was a bit skeptical when I first heard about VentureShield but my brother who had it applied to his new Land Rover. He convinced me to give it a try. On top of that, the shop I took it to also touted a revolutionary new detailing product that apparently is permanent using nanotechnology. I'd never have to wax/polish my car. I admit that I'm a bit skeptical about that too but it did make my car look incredible. For the record, the 3M material I originally had on the car was removed and replaced with the VentureShield material because it made the front end look like a different shade of blue. That was because of the "yellow" tint in the 3M film.

The results speak for themselves:

Removing the final matrix coating still on the car

Nice and wet looking

Fisheye shot

VentureShield material on the right

VenturShield material goes over and under the edges

Some final buffing touches

Finishing up the car

VTG intake covers

Porsche gold crest

Front end shot

Detail shot of headlight projector

Turbo badge

Jason, Premier did my Venture Shield on my turbo and I am very happy with the installation and the material. If you see subtle vertical lines in the material under flourescent lighting it is normal and very hard to detect if you are not looking for it. Your car is beautiful!

Here's the website for the matrix coating that was used on my car:

http://www.matrixmicrocoatings.com/

What they do is they first remove all the swirl marks from the car and then apply this matrix coating for added protection. I couldn't tell you if it would prevent swirl marks from ever showing up again. I'm just as new to this product as the rest of you folks.

There is a different alternatives to film type paint protection, it is a sprayed on/baked on (similar to clearcoat) paint protection now being used. There are several companies offering/developing the product, installation/application is done usually at the dealership.

It is applied exactly like clearcoat, ~1mil at a time, up to ~ 5-8 mils thick, then baked for 4-5 hours in a booth.
It can be applied to the entire car or just selected portions, simply by applying masking over the areas to be covered.

It will never lift at the edges and in the case of bodywork being required, it is sanded duirng repairs, exactly like clearcoat.

I offered my daily driver (Ford Hybrid Escape, silver) as a 'guinea pig' and have been very happy with the results so far.

I did hear about that particular technique not too long ago but it's apparently extremely pricey compared to 3M/Ventureshield. I haven't seen any car with extra clear coating applied yet. Can you tell where the extra clear coating finish starts/ends? I'd imagine that they probably meshed it well with the rest of the clear coat.

It starts/ends wherever you want it to.....10" back from hood, entire hood, entire car. It all depends on where you mask or don't mask.

I guess my question would be, can you see where it starts/ends or have they managed to mesh it well with the factory clear coating?

I ignore anything thats marketed as 'never wax your car again' because I just dont believe any product short of a car cover that can be put over the paint / clear coat to protect it forever. UV rays, acid rain, bird crap (just to name a few) are pretty good at breaking down waxes, polishes etc.

I would be into that clearcoat thing...for me...clear bra looks and feels too much like a condom...I don't like condoms...I have committed to one sports car and one woman...no condoms for me.

It depends.
On my daily driver, they masked about 10" back from the hood and applied it to around 7mils, so there is a line, albeit a softer line than film.
If you were to spray the whole front end (nose, hood, fenders), there would be no line.
I would imagine you could ask them to NOT put down masking (tape) and have them 'feather' the spray to give a much less intrusive line.

Great pics. Yes, Venture is clearer than 3M and Avery, but it does not mean they are inferior at all. What's most important is the installers' experience and skill that will make or break a film project.
