Thank you. I'm not sure if I just increased my stress or reduced it, but I no longer have to worry about the 911 as my only car:
Bought a beater with a heater. Another '08 horizontally opposed AWD stick shift. On the flip side, my savings account is now empty. I've got no money for Porsche parts for the next month or so.

Dude it’s the perfect DD! Your DD shouldn’t be too nice anyway. I’ve got my Chevy Volt and it’s great, I don’t have to give a crap about it.
So for the next few weeks put your lift in and start pulling it apart, and keep us posted please!
I just read the entire post. Seeing it for the first time. I only wish you had the money and interest initially to let a Porsche Dealer near you fix literally everything on the car, regardless of cost, so you didn't have t spend so much precious free time and scads of money dealing with it yourself. Then, in 2 weeks when they fixed EVERYTHING, you'd have a lovely car to drive and wouldn't have needed the Subaru, the lift, etc. But that's not how your life unfolded here and it is what it is.
It's been gut wrenching to read. Best of luck with the car from here on out... I'm speechless.
I thought all of that was on the front of the engine, with the water pump and whatnot. My leak's in the back.
I hadn't thought about the borescope. That's a good idea. Is the Harbor Freight one any good, or should I spring for a big boy toy?
i got a fiber optic camera that attaches to the iPhone for like 30 bucks from amazon. I used it to snake it into a spark plug hole. Should work well enough for your purpose.
