Default Tune/Flashing systems?

Hey Guys (and Gals...are There any girls on here?),

Note: My car is a 997.1 TT OEM

I am about to go headers (leaning towards EVOMS, but open to suggestions) and exhaust (EuroPipe stage 2) and a tune. The Tuner/installer I was planning to use (Titan Motorsports, Orlando, Fl., they have the only 4 wheel dynojet dyno in central Fl.) recommended Cobb autosport to flash/tune the ECU. This being my first Porsche I was looking for some guidance on the best tuning software or tuning system/procedures. I would like to be able to put the ECU RAM/"map" back to stock without needing to pull the ECU.

no need for headers. oem headers will handle and flow 1000 hp. unless your using v band turbos save the money for tuning. cobb unit with multiple files will run about 1500$ also look into usp motorsports in fl and protomotive in ar. emre from turkey is another tuner who is a master with the 997 tt platform..

Thank you for your input...looks like ESMotor in Turkey does indeed know their stuff. They are a Cobb dealer and ESMotor fully supports Cobb to apply their tunes via email. Looks like I could skip the dyno runs and just let ESMotor suggest a map based on my car. I am aware of USP in Coral gables...they are awesome. Thank you for the tip re: the stock headers being good to go unless V band turbos...greatly appreciated. Edit: I was talking about TuneRS in Coral Springs, that is who I am considering for the hands on work, not USP.

520 WHP assuming just 12% parasitic loss is 582 Crank HP...assuming 19% that is 619 HP...that is certainly quite healthy. And I agree with your comment the key to a good tune is leaving some on the table, could not agree more. For me, though I am an Engineer who could certainly do any and all of the work myself, I live in an oceanfront condo with a one car garage, so I will need a good Porsche motorsports group to perform my parts installations and perform the tune/trouble shooting. I am still looking here in Central Fl., haven't yet settled on anyone. Many thanks for the input.

Before doing more work to my car it had a protomotive tune from todd...the car ran great, good power over the whole rpm range

now that I'm running a syvecs Emre/ms motors (the guy from turkey) tuned my car and its out of this world awesome lol. I had my car dyno'ed at AIM performance here in New Jersey who work with Emre for all their tuning

Also if you end up going with a shop that uses the cobb access port. I have a brand new one for sale

Dyno runs are very cool to watch. The numbers always look great with impressive data outputs. The real test is the 1/4 mile run and times. That’s the real deal. I would love to take my car with that FVD tune and run it and see if all the hype is true. Then remove it and correlate the “real” data. Never had the time to do it.

Custom tune; datalog; great support = Ultimate Motorwerks.

Many guys on here are running UMW on their 996 and 997 turbos.

add Edit - Once logged and loaded, can remove tune back to stock in less than 5 minutes.

Agree, which is why I included some 60-100 and 100-200 vbox times in my thread, No 1/4 mile as I dont want to abuse my clutch doing hard launches.

Skip the headers and save your $. Headers are a must-have adder on small/big block FI/carburetor motors but on your car and for your needs not necessary. There are numerous other components to spend money on and headers are at the bottom of the list. A tune should be at the top of your list along with an exhaust system you are on the right path. EP seems to be the unofficial exhaust choice of our fellow TT comrades. UMW's tune (Kevin) is a favorite at well, alebit, I run another brand. Have fun with it!
