Default Airbag dash light after swapping seatbelts

THIS IS ALSO POSTED ON THE 997 FORUM...

Swapped in a set of red seatbelts in my 2008 tt. Disconnected the battery for the procedure.

Now I have a red airbag dash light, but no accompanying message on the computer.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks

Have you tried clearing the airbag module?

Everything is plugged back in?

I have had it where the battery was unplugged and I messed with an air bag system and still got a code.

Are the explosive charges damaged on the belts?

I purchased a set of used belts and installed and had the same issue. The broken belts sounded like a thing of tic tacs so it was pretty obvious that was the issue. I installed anyways just to see, and when the warning light came on, i knew that was the likely culprit.

I pulled them out and installed a brand new set of belts and that solved the problem for me. Just a thought.

Have the code reset and see if that clears it. If that doesn't clear it, you may have to recalibrate/reset the passenger seat weight sensor. It's basically a procedure done by Porsche where they have to have it with no weight, 40 lbs and then 80 lbs (or something like that). It's a pain and hopefully it won't come to that.

Let us know what clears it.

Had it read today, passenger side retractor. I went home, pulled the interior side panel, found I hadn't fully seated the electrical connector to the cartridge. I'l have it cleared again tomorrow, hopefully that'll do the trick.

I know, but I have a good relationship with the local Indy shop. They cleared it today (for free) after I reset the electrical connection on the passenger seatbelt retractor..... fixed the problem....
