Default 997. 2 Cup Center locks- easy to convert to 5 lug?

I'm looking at a 997.2 GT3 with Cup center locks (it is NOT a cup car). I'm interested but i'd like to have the option to run 5 lug wheels.

Is it possible to pull the drive pins and replace them with studs to run 5 lug wheels? I found these pics that appear to show just that.

OR would this be a project to remove the bearings/spindle etc. to make the change?

Audipwr1- does that mean i need a new 5 lug hub only, not the bearings/spindles etc? (no press necessary just bolting up parts?) thanks

Tasman- as far as I can see that sticky only talks about the normal GT3 center locks being converted to 5 lug. This car has the Cup car center locks which are different. Apparently (according to the pictures) the grand am series runs these cup car hubs with 5 lug studs and 5 lug wheels.

You press hub out of upright and put in new hub that process kills the bearing so you put in new bearing

Just my 2 cents:
I was (am) annoyed about the setup as well. But after working with it and getting the torque wrench and bar (few 100$ in amazon), I have adjusted to it and it is easy to work with.
Only ****ty issue would be a puncture on a long travel...

Got it- thanks all. I did this once before when I put in new uprights (wheel carriers). I was able to do it without a press (I put the uprights in the oven and the bearings in the freezer and used a massive bolt/washers and impact wrench). Next time, I'll just take it to a shop where they have a press.

Does anyone know what's going on in the pic at the top of the thread?

To OP did you go ahead and convert this to 5 lug at all?

When I bought my car, it came with 997.2 cup CL and it seems like stub axle bolt is failing. So I need to replace those and was thinking to convert it to 5 lug to have more wheel options.
If you have converted to 5 lugs, did you just use the 997.1 parts? Hubs and bearings?

Also does anyone know if can I downgrade my current 997.2 cup CL bolt to using the same hub but axle bolt from 997.1 cup CL?
