Default Launa Pipe Exhaust, 90db day, passed w/87db

I was at Laguna Seca on Monday and was worried about the low noise day. I considered the 3.2 sec vacuum line plug, but hear things can get hot by not allowing the bypass to open up and I still wasn't sure if that would be enough. So decided to fabricate my own exhaust. I used Moroso pipes and the other fittings are from Speedway Motors. I finished welding everything up Saturday.
It was a clear morning unlike my previous event a year ago which was foggy in the morning.
Anyway, did a 3 lap sound check and measured 87 db. I was WOT up the hill in both 3rd or 4th gear. Ran the entire day without lifting or short shifting, it was a blast and well worth a little over $200 in parts... There were many other Laguna pipes out there that day.
Laguna is a special track and it's nice to know I won't have problems in the future.

This is the **** needed to pass sound on a normal day at Laguna. Yes it's serious. Stock gt3 are way too loud.

Just search for Laguna pipes.

So glad I don't live in the Republic of California when it comes to these kinds of things. Florida is insane but man when it comes to vehicle restrictions it's awesome. Do what you have to.

Yes, all OEM exhaust.
There was even a stock Cayman S running Laguna Pipes. Also a 991 GT3 running some supertrapp pipes, not sure what his decibels were.

crazy!!

how did it attach to the stock muffler? did you take out the stock tips and just create a flange to go to the muffler, or did it attach to the stock tips? Curious ho wmuch that setup weighs too? I'd have concern of the extra weight/torque on the muffler.

I removed the tips and used the flange as a template to make a new flange. Yes, it is heavy (15 ish pounds), so I'm using the 3 bolts on the muffler and also a clamp on the tow hook to help support it, so 4 points to secure it to the car.

^^^^ didn't see the tow hook bracket. Pretty neat. i like the color of your car too, not common for the 997.1.

do you have any in-car video as well? Curious how it sounded from inside

Just plugging the valve than opens when Sport button is pressed lowers your DBel to mid 90ies. 2USD of parts is enough, just make sure you plug with something that will NOT be sucked in there.

Move close proximity of a race track or gun range and then complain about the noise? Go figure.

Creative exhaust alternative - glad it works and you and others can enjoy the track days.
