In your years of tracking GT cars, do you have a numbers for .1 and .2 RS's that have been deemed totaled?

Not a complete number. We need to update that soon - it's on the list.

Aside from the few know ones that are Comps, I haven’t heard. Are we talking about a Comprehensive Loss or Collision. The former you can’t really predict, the latter obviously.

Everyone wants to show off and while $10k is a lot of money, it's a lot less than trying to have a collection of Pagani's and Ferrari's like some people on IG.
I'm sure the prevalence and popularity of social media plays in there somewhat, but the watch market has risen outside of that realm of consumers as well. I collect vintage Rolex and Heuer, and even my modest collection is up 58% since I started tracking it in 2019. I'm not into the big, ornate, flashy stuff. I obsess over the tiny details of font, patina, unique references, imperfections, etc. That segment of collectors aren't the folks plastering IG with their brand new Daytonas, but they're enjoying the same upside. In my book, carefully chosen watches and cars are among the few true investments that can actually be enjoyed while appreciating at comparable or better rates than money markets.

Their cars are crazy overpriced and typically if you do a little research and look around a bit you can find a very similar car from a reputable dealer that has done the same maintenance for much less. I agreed with everything else you said, but I wanted to point this out because it’s a shame to see people get taken by EAG’s smoke and mirrors show.
I have to take issue with this - to a degree. There are certainly people who overspend on EAG cars. There is also an argument to be made that EAG inflates the market for super special M cars. But you know who's NOT making that argument? Owners. If you want to be guaranteed that your grail M car is in fact absolutely and unquestionably perfect, EAG is reliably your source. I would agree that for "regular" M cars (i.e., E36, 46, etc.) EAG is high. But they're on market for extremely rare stuff (pristine E30s, low mileage rare color M Coupes, etc.). They may be "setting" that market, but it's still simple supply and demand. They're finding those cars, and people are buying them. Full disclosure - I've never bought from them, but did have my '02 M Coupe worked on by them, and their operation is just insanely good. And their inventory is museum-esque.

while i cant disagree with above, as an over 20 year M enthusiast (currently own 3), i'bve had my run-ins w/ EAG, and frankly i just cant do business with them...the holier than though attitude and complete lack of humility bothers me...pm me if you want my stories

Today is very hard to find good, honest and people with humility in the auto industry. A total shame.

Doug seems to be the exception rather than the rule!

interesting posts last 2 pages
I agree that social media has influence on ppl's buying partern, what is hot or not.
also see some IG personalities show items them have, cars or watches. it's all good.
some are really into the hobby, some are into the "show"
but if you follow the poster long enough you will see if they are there to "show" or they actually believe and enjoy their hobby and want to share with other like minded ppl.
GT3/RS or Daytona are nice, but not that nice to "show".
as such I made an IG post in jest with my daytona "FINALLY, I CAN FLEX WITH THE 30 YEAR OLDS"...
guys with F1, original ferrari Lusso, D-types don't bother posting much haha.
and some of my clients have watch collection where anything below $500,000 USD is considered daily beater.
everyone is a bit different and that's the fun of it all.
I enjoy everyone's post and have a good time with it.
