To RS or not to RS, that is the question.

All excellent points guys. The car will be primarily used as a weekend car, sharing duties with at least 1 other Porsche (depending on what I will be left with).

this comes up all the time.
if you have to ask, you want an RS
all the norcal nuts who listened ended up with RS and overall it's a cheaper car to own.

Any GT3 could be made more raw and aggressive than an OEM RS for MUCH less than the price differential between the two.

Quit wasting thought energy and buy an RS. Logic has no part in this decision. YMMV

As a relatively new 7.1 GT3 speed yellow owner I think I can relate to your question. I also am a long time Porsche owner, currently having 11 with the longest held being a '65 356SC which I have owned for 38 years. Some of mine are very nice drivers and some are still in project status while some are waiting to get their turn to move from futures to active project. All are intended to be driven, to be used. My new to me GT3 just got used for a 5200 mile trip to RRV then on to the PCA Escape on the way home.
My long term plan is for my GT3 is to be one the cars in my DD rotation, as such it is a great fit. If I had track plans maybe a RS would be a better fit. As you stated the GT3 can blend in just about anywhere. My cars tend get a bit of sports purpose touches and the GT3 has been no exception with a 3.89 R&P, DSC module, and a Sharkworks center delete/raw tips. These add to my enjoyment as I use this car on a regular basis.
So the question you need to answer is will a RS add significantly to your enjoyment over a GT3 and a 993? Keep in mind how you plan to use these and your long term interests. As far as value is concerned having it all in one car vs spread across a few that are all going up??
Just think what works for you, what we think is irrelevant. There are no bad choices if they make you happy.

Reading (twice) the GT3 article in Panomara, it mostly refers to the GT3RS, as well as the old R, RS, and RSR. Also stated was top VW execs owned the GT3RS, for whatever that is worth to you.
I love my .1GT3, and have never driven an RS, but the RS is the top of the food chain for streetable GT cars at this time with prices climbing.
As much as I love 993 series, I'd go for the RS and keep it.
Have fun shopping.

That 24 hour Nurburgring effort did me in an ultimately drove me to my Mexico RS. Everyone is right. If you are already contemplating it your done. The RS isn't something you'll ever be able to rationalize over a GT3. This a pure lust/want inner drive.

Theres no other street Porsche that they've taken to the 24hr, raced it stock and delivered results like that. That car is truly that good. I've been racing the 997.2 Cup last 2 years and when I get in Mexico I swear it pulls harder than my Cup! It's basically the same motor.

You will have no regrets.

Thanks guys. As stated, I am already done, so more a matter of how long will it take for me to get that unicorn.
I guess the chase is the best part of the acquisition.

Default 997.1 rs vs 997.2 non rs

Hi, how does a 997.1 rs compare to a 997.2 non-rs? It seems like rs prices continue to move on both the 997.1 and 997.2 rs but is the 997.1 technology/chassis/engine better than - 3.8 gt3?

I would take a 997.2GT3 and a 993 over a 997.2RS.

RS is nice, but the ability to drive a mezger one day and a 993 the next is hard to beat.
I know cause i do it every week
