Default GT2/GT3 prodution numbers

Here are the worldwide production numbers for GT2/GT3 (data from Total 911 magazine):

7.1 GT3 2378
7.1 GT3 RS 1106

7.2 GT3 2200
7.2 GT3 RS 1500
7.2 GT3 RS 4.0 600

7.2 GT2 1242
7.2 GT2 RS 500

From my previous calcs on 997 Turbo sales, I think approx 33% of the total comes to US. So you can do the math for your car. For my 7.2 GT3, this says there are 726 cars in US. I have read elsewhere it is 680, so I think 33% of the total is pretty close.

Damn limited supply!

With respect to RS only, above numbers are different than those in below link, which reports:

1,909 .1 RS (413 US)
2,000 .2 RS (543 US)

They have already produced 2500 991.1 GT3s no? Who knows how many 991.2 GT3s they make.

Total 997 numbers will def be lower.

If you got a 997 GT3, hold onto them!!!

Thank you Greg.
Regarding the GT2 Production number. There should be a 7.1 and a 7.2. I had a 7.1 2008 GT2 ('08-'14) and sold it and in '14 bought a 7.2 2011GT2 RS and in '15 a 7.2 2009 GT2. There is clearly a difference between the 7.1 and the 7.2. PCM is one.

Also 1242 sounds greater than I recall, but I cannot verify that.

^ I counted the 2009 gt2 as a 997.1?
2009 gt2 production around 20?

Yeah, sorry about the GT2 mistake. On closer inspection, there are clearly 7.1 and 7.2 GT2's:

2007-2009 7.1 GT2 3.6 1242
2010-2011 7.2 GT2 RS 500

1800 991.1 GT3s in North America alone according to MJones on the 991 site.

And I agree - not selling my 997 either!!

There was a footnote on the 2010-2011 GT2 RS, that it came with Acid Green badge and brakes. Is that right?

I think the Acid Green cars were turbo S models made available only to 918 order customers.

Correct number for total production of 997GT2 .1 and .2 is 1261 units according to a senior source from Porsche in 2011

Yes, my mistake. I got so EXCITED, someone talking about the GT2 on this forum! 2009 was around 29 or 28.
FWIW: I could see the (physical) difference between my former '08 and current '09 in the PCM. The '09 and the '11 2RS interiors are exactly the same.

Never seen that...PCCB/Yellow calipers and the badging on side and on tail (on mine) are black.

2009 GT2 is kind of a strange duck. PCM 3.0, 3.6l engine, and I think it still uses Bosch Motronic, 997.1 tail lights and other GT2 styling cues. Sort of a mashup of a 997.1 and 997.2. I thought the GT2 RS went to Siemens DME?

185 MY2008 GT2 units in the USA.
20 MY2009 GT2 units in the USA (many if not all are PTS).
Those numbers are the most prevalent seen publicly.

From a specification POV, the GT2 is a red headed stepchild. It is neither here nor there compared to the GT3/RS or Turbo/S. Kind of a parts bin exercise- turbo car with 3RS transmission but with taller gearing, etc. It seems like a few of the GT2 units are afterthoughts (ie. maybe a chassis here or there not in the system being used, so they make a few GT2 units out of them and charge a BIG price). Mine seems that way, with Clubsport chassis (CS roll cage points welded in, harness attachment points, etc) sold in the USA.
