If you are looking for...

No brainer solution...OEM
Something fun to try out...OEM with strut revolve and eliminate some of the rubber (e.g. dog bones)
Down the rabbit hole...go to BBi with your Amex black card

although 996 vs 997...
I'm debating doing a respring/revalve on my factory Bilstein-made coilovers vs going with Ohlins R&T...simple and known-reliable vs better technology...
For guy using them, how are the Ohlins reliability/longevity?
How about servicing/rebuilding...located in Ontario, Canada...
Cheers,
Rob

i have 40/60 guard lsd, but those hard to come buy, i am saving them for cars i will buy.

i had two sets of narrow body E88 BBS, you must missed it. then it went to another member for 12 months rarely used. he just sold them a month ago!

i have an RSS 930 roll bar i have no use for.

had 20+ sets of hanress, but too many ppl asking too many question and not willing to pay what's essentially giving to them free. so i donated to landfill.

i have a lot of pads for 997.2RS. i do not know what else they fit. i wont do research for buyers. they figure out if they work on their car.

i do sell parts while on track at 4x msrp
you will not believe how many ppl don thave spare pads and rotors. and are too cheap to stock them. like kids, they need tough love so i do my best to train them.

i do have many RS to sell. i am moving to air cooled. RS too fast scares me.

I smell some one steering market in their favor... by moving to air cooled you mean as WELL as ALL GT3's and RS's you can get your sugar coated hands on

Update: I called Bilstein @ 800-537-1085, the number listed in the link. Their response:

We cannot rebuild an OE part. You will have to contact Porsche as they're the intellectual property owner. We can offer you an aftermarket kit.

Either I talked to the wrong guy or they changed their policy it seems like.

Re-valving the stock shocks is a waste, IMO, because you don't really gain any ability to adjust the shocks. I used uprated swift springs (kit available from Tarrett) on stock shocks with very good results. ~396lb front, ~672lb rear. No re-valve needed for those rates. Cheapest bang for buck there is.

Otherwise, go with Ohlins. Anything more expensive is overkill, for your application.

I have motons that I bought on a group buy a few years back
If I was starting over, I would go ohlins simple version with uprated springs (a la mvez)
no brainer.. I think the stock shocks and pasm suck
after putting on the motons I was mad that I had not done it sooner

Those Ohlins rear shocks still need mono-ball (pillow ball) top mounts to work properly- removes so much stiction in the rear shock from spring bind/side load- ask Tom at TPC! He did this mod on his Bilstiens. When I did this mod it was like I just spent double the money on new buttery smooth suspension without make any other adjustments to my Kw V3's, just awesome how nice this is!

Thanks

My experience on this is in line with yours. The OEM shocks in PASM Sport Mode is already too stiff for OEM springs for my liking. Re-valving for stiffer damping makes the use of PASM Sport Mode even more of a mismatch for OEM springs. It Might work okay in Normal Mode but its a gamble. The approach of leaving the OEM valving alone and better matching the springs will produce positive results when using OEM PASM module's commands.

Some time ago a highly respected member here was kind enough to share with us the dyno graphs of his re-valved OEM shocks. Unfortunately the shocks were made so stiff mechanically that we advised the DSC module won't open up the damping range enough due to the mechanical limitation of the re-valving.

Yeah, it irritates me that many aftermarket shocks even in the $5K range don't come with proper rear top mounts.
