997.1 GT3 HPDE Prep/Mods
Are 997.1 GT3's pretty much ready to track out of the box with just wheels/tires/brake pads/fluid and alignment?
I know of the possible coolant pipe issue which needs pinning or welding but a lot of owners I talked to did not do that and tracked their car with no ill effects.
I've also seen parts like the RSS control arms, dog bones, drop links etc are those necessary for oem parts that fail?

Apart from welding or pinning the coolant couplings, I ran across another technique that seems to make a lot of sense. See here:
This is the route that I decided to go with the engine out to address several "refresh" issues and the Guards treatment to my LSD.

Does the 997.1 GT3 LSD need to be rebuilt like the 996 GT3's?
How common is it to blow the coolant line? If you run 100% water and blow the coolant line will it damage the engine if you shut it off immediately?

Awesome thanks! Seems like the level 1 stuff isn't too hard. If you do bucket seats you should probably do harness and HANS I'd think.
What's the average cost to do the coolant lines? Any recommendations for the semi sold mounts and trans bushings?

I'm an instructor for a few tracks here in TX, don't have experience in a 911 but plenty in my previous cars (GT-R, Elise, Cayman S, S2000, M3 etc). Looking forward to experiencing what the GT3 is all about. I heard it's a great car to do some basic setup get in and drive the crap out of then be able to drive home.

Not many GT3's available for test drive around here, certainly not on a track. I drove an 07 a few years ago for a few minutes on the street, didn't get the full experience.

as far as production cars are concerned the GT3 is as track ready as anything else. everyone has their own level of different track readiness. Some require some items where as some others wouldn't. I think the level of driver you are also determines what the car may need vs. want.
