997.1 GT3 HPDE Prep/Mods

Got the car now trying to prep it for track stuff. Any advice on aftermarket race seats that fit a 997.1 and what hardware is needed to mount? Also besides OZ are there any reasonably priced track wheels out there? I've been browsing RL for used sets but nothing has turned up yet.

Do any aftermarket race seats bolt to the factory sliders with side mounts or do you have to take the entire stock system out and use aftermarket mounts/sliders etc?

The easiest solution is to buy a pair of 996 GT3 seats, which come up for sale all the time. I had them. Better are the GT2 seats, but they are harder to find and double the price. Both use the stock sliders. As for wheels, I had used CCWs, used Fikses and used 996 GT3 wheels (for snow tires), now all sold. The diff doesn't blow up, it just stops limiting the slip. The one absolute need is alignment; rotate the front struts to get 2-3 degrees negative camber. You already have split lower control arms in front if you want more. Lots of choices for roll bars and harnesses. Finally, you may decide that the suspension is just too soft. If so, Damptronic B16. Don't go with much stiffer springs if you don't want to hate the car on the street. On the coolant fittings, I tracked my car for almost 7 years and had one small coolant leak. A gusher is not inevitable. I did replace the coolant with Water Wetter.

What's a good price for used gt3 seats?

I don't want to be branded as asocial but yes. I did run Water Wetter. I bought and sold my GT3 seats for like $2200, but the market may have changed. Sold my GT2 seats for $5000 and I sold too cheap.

My coolant lines blew on my way home from a PCA DE. Lucky it didn't happen on the track i'd just been on a few hours before. Your coolant lines may never blow. Conversely, you can take a chance of never killing the guy behind you on the track, or spending a delightful early morning on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. Your choice.
